Racism at Yorkshire CCC

Again how do you want it sorting now. Going forward mind not just looking to punish
As many have said on here in the previous few months, there needs to be a independent chairman put in charge by the ECB to oversee a number of procedures put in place at all levels to tackle the clear institutional racism. There needs to be the removal and banning of all who are found guilty of racism by the independent report that must now take place, and Yorkshire needs to be forced through measures and targets to take action to better include and integrate it's large south asian community going forward in future development of the county.

On top of that they need to be punished for the actions they have taken. That should be the demotion, points penalties, huge financial penalties (ideally some/ most of which is donated to charities dealing with the development and coaching of the British-Asian youth cricket) and the removal of all international games for the near future.

I never dignify shite like that with a considered rebuttal . Wow x

I just think there would have been more inclination within Yorkshire cricket if it had been someone other than Rafiq. And potentially that partly explains if not excuses some of the reticence .

There's lots of Asian kids play cricket in the north east and certainly in Yorkshire , I think by enlarge they tend to stay at the same teams .
I was talking to my lad about it the other day. The club he plays for has lots of Asian cricketers , some of them the best at the club . They're all in the second team , won't play first team and the reason is they only enjoy batting and bowling , and if they're not assured of first go they don't want to know about helping out .
It's not wrong it's just how they see the purpose of cricket, they love a bit of heroism and the way they banter is all about bigging up , that's not indulged at decent first team level .
Just different culture.
You are part of the problem

Roger Hutton throws the ECB and the Executive Members under the bus.

"The club should have recognised at the time the serious allegations of racism," he wrote. "I am sorry that we could not persuade executive members of the board to recognise the gravity of the situation."

"There has been constant unwillingness from the executive members of the (Yorkshire) board and senior management at the club to apologise and to accept racism and to look forward,"

It will be interesting to see how damaged Yorkshire are by the withdrawal of so many sponsors.

A year or so down the line, are they likely to find themselves in similar financial straits to Durham a few years back ?

Yeah we're going to be pretty fucked financially. No international fixtures as well. I imagine our players, youth players and coaches will be fair game for anyone that wants them now.

I think it's perfectly reasonable to be honest. What punishments would you dish out then?

Dunno if punishment is the way forward . I would engage firstly in getting Yorkshire to recognise and agree full and accurate analysis of its complicity ( that may be less than many on here have decided in their half aware heads ) . I would sit down with them and work out an agreed framework going forward and make them consultant / ambassedors for it throughout the counties . Poacher turned game keeper type of thing.
If they are still obstinent in total denial and non cooperation I would then start with sanctions ..and be prepared for them to go to court .

Totally agree about the first bit. It's actually a great opportunity for them to tap into some potential talent.
The 2nd bit is harsh. They're already serving punishment with the international games and losing sponsorship money. They have done as ECB asked.... Which was not the right thing to do!
Reform is needed throughout cricket. Situation at Yorkshire will be the tip of the iceberg.

Done what they want?? Mate we've been deliberately obscuring and delaying the release of the report for about 14 months???

Here’s a question. Do you believe Durhams financial problems are worse than Yorkshire’s racial issues?

Durham were relegated and lost their test status on the back of their issues. Yorkshires punishment should be FAR heavier than Durhams.
I bet they f***ing won’t be though.

I honestly don't know mate. Do you think what happened to Durham was fair ? Would massive financial penalties against Yorkshire be proportionate when contrasted with that but wrong in and of themselves ?
I do think there is a lot of " get them too " driving the intensity on here .
Cull the West Riding lot ;)
Racist ..Rafa was Barnsley wasn't he ? 😉
