Is he a genuine Saudi? Remember the fake sheikh? Maybe investigating sportswashing at a grass roots level?
I thought that. I'm not on Twitter so can only see bits and can't make head nor tail of what's going on :D but the mags have more than their fair share of knackers so it could just be some random nutter :D

It'll be interesting to see how Howe does. I'm surprised that nobody has employed him in the 15 months or so since he left Bournemouth.

No doubting that he did an amazing job at Bournemouth, and his record at Burnley was reasonable, if unspectacular, but the expectation at Newcastle will be something else entirely.
The thing about these meteoric rises is it’s never just down to the manager. The whole club is a unit including the fans. They’ve been together through thick and thin. NUFC are a different kettle of fish altogether. They couldn’t be less of a unit if they tried. That few years under keegan ruined them completely. Like Shoichi Yokoi, they’ve spent the last 20 odd years hiding from reality, unable to come to terms with the truth. Unfortunately that’s a mediocre club up north that’s won fuck all since Bill Haley and his comets were cool yet they think they deserve to be up there with the elite. It will be an epic job just dealing with those Gollum esq cretins never mind owners who don’t have a bastard clue what they’re doing. If he manages to turn things round there he deserves all the praise he can get.

In addition, the mags were under valued at around 2+ of revenue. Top teams are valued at 6x revenue. Interestingly, in the MLS with no relegation, valuations are 10+ x revenue, so you can see the ESL angle. IMHO they will tart the place up, grow revenue and sell on within 5 years.
PIF is Private Equity.

PE funds are designed to invest and/or trim the fat. Once profitability has been established they sell on - usually in year 4.

I've worked with PE funds for years and this is a rinse and repeat cycle. PIF will likely be gone before a trophy is won.

The only perfect is the Saudi’s bellends up their slack arseholes. Fuck me man one has already admitted they’d have been furious if Ashley lost emery due to fuckwittery and employed Howe, yet they’re now class him as a “good fit” ??? What the fuck? They’re so far down the rabbit hole it’s insane.
Of course he's a good fit, lost his last relegation battle :p

Man City or Málaga CF.....

My first thoughts when I saw the shock news that the takeover was back on. Most people will think of Manchester City or PSG, when thinking of the mega rich, big league Arab owners. And most people will not remember, or even heard of the Qatari takeover of Málaga. As a supporter and one time season card holder at Málaga, I remember it well. PLEASE, God, make it end like THIS (Educational)........

Year 4 is not hard and fast and depends on market conditions at the time. I have also worked with PIF :)

If the Jan expenditure is massive then this is not a PE deal it is purely a Middle Eastern dick measuring contest/sportswashing.

No. Agreed a deal in principal. Could still fall to bits
Must admit I’m torn over this appointment. Half of me wants him to sign as it’s such an underwhelming appointment, and the other half wants him to turn it down just to see your lot self combust and then claim he wasn’t good enough anyway. Either way I’m happy about it.
