He needs to get off to a good start otherwise they'll turn on him. It's what they do and he will have a nervous breakdown if it happens. He was wracked with anxiety at Arsenal and Villareal are like managing Bournemouth. I hope he falls flat on his face for 2 reasons. I hate the Mags and he's obviously got no morals joining the Prince of Darkness at Genocide United.

I didn't make the decision to appoint him. I am not Lee Charnley or Mike Ashley.
My apologies your "why wouldn't you look at a prospective employee's CV" or something like that post implied you were the "decision maker"

Why would Mike Ashley want to look at any candidates CV for Isisunited stinking out the council owned Sid Jamses landfill and Sports (beheading, stoning etc) Arena ?

He hasn't sined yet, when he puts his head on the pillow tonight it's going to feel like a chopping block, the only way he will get to sleep is if he gets stoned first. I hope he doesn't live in a high rise apartment.

I'm not convinced he did look.

I would say that that list if five of the most obvious candidates you can think of for a club like Newcastle. Nothing wrong with that, it's pointless trying to be clever when you're trying to rebuild a lot of the infrastructure at the club.

Obviously, it's risky either way, but if Emery has success this season, he's in a powerful position. Because you're going back to front, any off-the-field appointment is going to have to be someone Emery approves of. It doesn't really matter whether he aligns with your plans or not, because you're going to be doing things his way.

Personally, I'd have gone for Nuno on an 18-month deal. He's not a glamourous name, but he's shown he can organise a team quite well and his connections mean that he can probably work without needing a huge team around him in January. Stay up, and it could open the door for Newcastle to nab your Jiminez's and Neves's of the world come the summer.
I think the optics of appointing Nuno wouldn't be great. the perception that he failed at Tottenham, to immediately come into a failing team? Not a great look. I think appointing Fonseca, Favre, Emery or any from that level of manager is in-keeping with a new approach, a new direction and all that.

If it had been Ashley still in charge and looking to replace Bruce, I'd have jumped at the chance to employ Nuno, regardless of the perception.

Emery signings at Arsenal were totally garbage the worst though

£72m Pepe 😮
Emery didn't want Pepe though. He didn't have a lot of say in the signings. He wanted Zaha, Banega, Kondogbia and got none of them. Mind you looking at those names it's maybe for the best.

He's not charismatic and I think his style of play will reflect that.
