Shameful behaviour from *some* of our fans today

Reading this is awful like.
Took my kids, 13 and 10, to their first away game during week to QPR, cos it was half term - it was amazing, brilliant memories and they loved the atmosphere and everything about it (although my son did think the QPR fans were 'waving' at him:lol:)
I was desperately trying to get tickets to take them yest, so so pleased I missed this, not just cos of result.
Very sad to read all this - and will make me think twice about next away game.
How do all these nobs get tickets so easily?

There was a dickhead on the train shouting ‘England’, no problem with that but it was quite clearly based on him standing next to two tables of Asians.
Why bother shouting 'England' when they're not even playing? Anyone who does that is a racist imo.

Unless it was for our wonderful cricket team beating the aussies of course ;)

The amount of exclusions I'm seeing in primary schools has increased massively in the last few years. Completely agree we are in a for a shit storm and God knows how we stop it

As much as I dislike this Govt, potential issues with society was one of the reasons why they were always reluctant to put us into lockdown. What we are seeing now is a byproduct and it will only get worse

not all brexit voters are racist......... but id gamble that all racists are brexit voters
Again, nope, I know people who have racist views who voted remain. They were worried that their jobs wouldn't be safe (as there was a lot of talks of companies moving to europe) and, ultimately, put themselves first. Nothing is as nice and easy to box as "all racists voted leave". I'd be comfortable saying most racists voted leave, but not all

Unfortunately I just think it's the way society has been heading for years. Far too many I'm alright Jack self entitled arseholes. There's very little community spirit anymore and a lot less people are prepared to accept responsibility for their own actions. I don’t think that the pandemic has caused it, but it's certainly highlighted the selfishness that now exists.

I just posted on the other thread. It’s social media (Twitter especially) to blame I reckon. It’s bred - and breeding - as you say self entitled arseholes wanting to act the big man so they can tweet about it and get a few likes and it’s now spilling over into real life.

Starts in the home. By the time the schools get them they are fighting a losing battle.

I work In schools and the amount of abuse the school administration recieve is astonishing. The lack of respect people have these days is shocking. Just look at this place.
Kids being born to scummy parents who themselves were born to scummy parents.
Now we have 3 generations …the latest of which has access to the shitstorm that is social media .
Can’t see it getting any better anytime soon.
just for balance, the rotherham fans in that corner seemingly led by the nitwit in the bizarre jester outfit spent nearly all game chucking abuse at the away fans. i noticed the bloke with the red stone island top was with his kids. they were sitting a block away and he would go down to them then back up to his mates to join in the goading of our fans.

edit, i'm just pointing out there was arseholes on both sides.
Noticed that myself.
Also left 15 minutes early and caught the back end of the barrier incident near burger van.
Seemed to be older Rotherham blokes (why they left early at 4- 1 up ?) arguing with younger Safc fans. Wonder if this was the incident with coin .
Not sure if Safc buses were parked up that way either or the Safc lads were onway to train.
My brother and his 10 year old son attended the game yesterday, they witnessed a lot of drunken late teens early 20’s giving verbal abuse to anyone they passed especially anyone from another origin.
They are now giving the Sheffield game a miss on Tuesday.
Also sounds like my nephew is not keen on going to the SOL.
Shameful behaviour, it makes me sad that this is our so called club fans.
Don’t fall for the claptrap that the club is infested with racist coked up hooligans .
Away games they are a small minority and at home games they are literally non noticeable.
The SOL is one of the most welcoming stadiums in the country .

not wanting to defend anyone acting like a dickhead but i doubt those under the stand would have been aware of what was happening. i also thought it was a bit of a shambles, we could hardly hear the pa or the last post and when folk in the stand did click on what was going on it did fall silent. like i said, i'm not defending poor behaviour but i could see how it turned out the way it did. even the rotherham players started applauding after the last post.
We were finishing off our pints under the stand and honestly had no idea that there was a minutes silence going on.

Sad thread given that as a City fan at Maine Road many years ago despite being relegated your support was load and proud and humorous just the same at Wembley a few yrs back. Its definitely not a Sunderland thing but nationwide.

I said earlier in the thread that it was poorly organised. They started off with an applause for a former director and then they done the last post. The entire ground started clapping when it finished as people assumed it was an applause rather than a silence.

Hardly a thing mentioned in the press bout some clubs having a minutes silence for Remembrance Sunday

as you say badly organised through out

Had Spurs game on in the car driving back. Sounded like they done it? It's probably caught a few out as some have had to it early because of international weekend.

also Leicester had it in the early game but couldve been advertised better

does anyone know if we’re having one at our next home game or on Tuesday at Sheffield Wednesday

We'll probably do it against Mansfield. It's a shame it's fallen on an international weekend because there's always some great tributes. The legion always do well from auctioning the shirts off too.

Some treat away days like a stag do.Anything goes (coke and more) and a "fuck you" attitude to the town or city they are visiting, especially the coach lot who can say and do what they want then jump on a bus straight after.

The same little runts dont like it (as none of us do) when other clubs do it on our patch .(Celtic anyone?)

It's always been the case where the charver element are larger in grounds closer to Sunderland. It happened before social media but I do think a lot of behaviour is down to coke and boozer but the daft lads wanting to record the moment.

If anybody on twitter wants to try and organise a couple of tickets for the young lass and her dad ( she may well no want to attend ) for the return leg at the SOL a. , match tickets, transport , maybe a welcome in the Beacon of Light ? count me in for a contribution.

You missed the bit about pockets of fans turning on each other over wether it was the referee that was shit or the team was shit… absolutely embarrassing. One thing you don’t do is turn on your own when things aren’t going right, it was absolutely pathetic, literally got to the point where it could have turned into a rumble.
At 4-1 down and that happening, enough was enough so I fucked off

you might have been next to me then
