Shameful behaviour from *some* of our fans today

Its bad enough seeing us get humped again by a league 1 side but it is shameful that some of our "fans" have been throwing coins at kids & engaged in deeply offensive chanting.

We've always taken pride in the fact that despite not having a very good team we've always had a fantastic following & we've earned respect from other clubs for our commitment & loyalty.

The mindless arseholes in question are a stain on our good name and I can only hope most fair minded people would think they were a minority & not a true reflection of our wider support base.

Don’t think for one moment any club would levy that at Sunderland or most other clubs to be fair mate.
We all have a minority set of dick heads.
For everyone of those so many more excellent decent human beings enjoying following their mutual clubs.
As a contrast and as posted on another thread, every Oldham fan I encountered yesterday were absolutely first class and so many other Swindon commenting the same.

My brother and his 10 year old son attended the game yesterday, they witnessed a lot of drunken late teens early 20’s giving verbal abuse to anyone they passed especially anyone from another origin.
They are now giving the Sheffield game a miss on Tuesday.
Also sounds like my nephew is not keen on going to the SOL.
Shameful behaviour, it makes me sad that this is our so called club fans.

There's loads of things that are appatently hate crimes now which no one in their right mind would have considered a hate crime 5-6 years ago. Read this on the bbc the other day
Absolutely riduculous, but would no doubt would be included in stats which would suggest transphobia is getting worse.

Perhaps willingness to put in flippant claims of discrimination, and use it as a source of power has been emboldened by Remoamers since the referendum flippantly calling anything and anyone racist in order to further their own cause.

Just because some nuggets go around shouting racism at everything, doesn't necessarily indicate that racism is increasing.

The online abuse of females in football as well.

These people need to be made to feel unwelcome and ostracised, if it means losing them as away support then so be it.

it would mean calling them out though.

There’s always been a small percentage of our fanbase who are absolutely fuckiƱg stupid.

I remember a pre season friendly at Darlos new stadium, some lads 20 rows up griefing a steward behind the goal, it escalated to the point these daft lads started spitting at the steward, problem being the spit only travelled about 10 rows down and onto some unsuspecting Sunderland fans. Morons of the worst kind.

The club need to pay Northumbria Police’s bill again and get some presence back in and around the stadium. If people start getting launched out of the stadium for being twats with beer and chucking bottles, they’ll soon get the message.

My wife was a teacher until recently and was physically threatened by a Year 7 boy. I just feel that we are in for a rough ride over the next few years as people's behaviour worsens post pandemic - people have forgotten how to behave. I agree with you but am seeing strange behaviour post pandemic on a regular basis.
The amount of exclusions I'm seeing in primary schools has increased massively in the last few years. Completely agree we are in a for a shit storm and God knows how we stop it

Well said mate. It’s the one thing we can be proud of. They are a disgrace and should be banned.

Living down south I attend predominantly away games below say Burton.
I've rarely witnessed any of this behaviour thankfully, and think our support is generally sound and a credit to the city.
I wonder if this is just an issue with more local away days, or hopefully just a one off?

If anyone on here was involved can I just take the opportunity to tell you you're f***ing spineless helmets

It’s by design. Kids were kept in line and on the straight and narrow en masse by the same methods since time eternal. Ask yourself what has changed and if this can both embolden the worst behaviours and stifle the methods to keep it in check.

They’ll be a canny few although they won’t accept the fact, if you ā€œloanedā€ your ST number to a so called ā€œmateā€ who you’ve never met that’s you involved in my book

Anybody who knows anybody who took part in any of these incidents much report them to the club and the police. If found guilty the club must then issue life time bans on all of them and to confirm if anybody is caught buying a ticket for them in the future they too will be given a lifetime ban.

A life time ban  I bet half the people who are going on about how bad the younger generation are were causing absolute havoc at matches in the 80’s and 90’s but have since grown up, I’m sure these will too
