Dunno if you are kidding or not.
But the fact is all of their new fans in KSA will think it is. It will be splashed all over the news there.
Only people who are familiar with the region in this country will think it's not a mosque. So, I'd guess we'll over 95% of the UK population will think it is.

The Spanish City is not even that close to Newcastle, yet
it takes up the prominent position in the flag . They could easily have focused on say, The Tyne Bridge, Aotn etc It's hardly a recognised symbol of the NE.
Without a doubt it is paying lip service to the Saudis.

It's an old flag. They started using it years ago but it got sacked off because covid/want Ashley out.

They claim all sorts of shit as their own. Didn't they have Durham Cathedral on one? Might have even been that one.

Fair enough, I stand corrected. Thought it was unveiled yesterday.
Should have realised cos there's no Saudi flag on it.

Sadly there’s a Chronicle article from 2019 announcing it 😀

I for one am gutted, I thought it was blatant sucking up to their Saudi overlords instead its another example of them claiming other area’s landmarks as their own. They have Hadrian’s Wall on there too.

They’ll not class him as a real Geordie like wor Rafa now 🤣Bruce never made it to Geordie status as he was never liked

It’s the Spanish city at Whitley bay sea front you knacker.

Granted it’s not in Newcastle either, it’s firmly in the heart of north tyneside thank you very much. I could be wrong as well but there’s a pit wheel on there, the closest pit I know of to newcastle is probably killingworth (again north tyneside) yet the most famous pit north of the Tyne is probably woodhorn at ashington (Northumberland) think they’ve now stolen that piece of history also
It looks like the same design/colour as the one in Killigworth on the flag.

I suppose they're all within walking distance for the tourists who will come to see Mbappe, Haaland etc to play next season ;) Tourists can just get off at Durham Station, see the Cathedral first then while on the way to Spanish City, call past the Angel and then up the coast of Newcastle to see the Woodhorn museum before heading to SJP for the game.

Regardless, it's a tremendous banner though and you can't knock that as it's some sight to see!

You make out that people don't do business with he Saudi's all the time...
Oh they do. The Trump family were all over them but most footage is from mobile phones as they were careful not to overdo the publicity.

Despite that, no US sports team is owned by them despite intensive lobbying since 2016. They’ve been looking for a weak spot ever since

And now they have the F1, high profile boxing matches, WWE etc.

They are clearly finding plenty of people to do business with. Money talks - sadly.
How many journalists are going to be able to ask the Queen directly about their human rights atrocities, your new manager will have to face the press every week
They can ask the prime minister every single week and don't 🤷🏻

The queen literally shook hands with them recently and thanked them for their business. It really doesn't get anymore public than that.
Well if they have the approval of the Queen their reputation must be immune to reproach. I mean look at the high esteem in which her offspring are held.

Christ, please don't like me a royalist or a supporter of KsA I'm not. I just don't believe you will find as many moral objectors as you think. Top down its shown that money talks. Ask Beckham the UNICEF ambassador.

You know what winds me up? They haven't won in 10 and a single win will have them on the same points as 17th  .

You know for a fact if we'd been in the premier league without a single win in 10 we'd be about 15 points from safety.
Aye, I was saying that to the bairn yesterday. The bottom four have something like one win after about 40 games between them. It's almost staggering that anyone ever gets relegated  a win every ten games or so and you're right in the survival mix, a truly dreadful standard towards the bottom of the league

Agree with this mind. I'd love it if good managers and players decided to turn down the mags due to the human rights record of the owners. In reality, sadly, I doubt many would have that kind of moral compass. Fling enough money around and the vast majority of players would sign and either not give a fuck, or do similar moral gymnastics as a lot of the mags supporters. It's wishful thinking to think they'll be shunned by all. Maybe some sponsors might leave them if the PR is bad enough, but others will just want to be linked with what could become a successful "brand". I'm just hoping that they aren't wanting to spend as much as some think, or aren't able to due to FFP, and that the money they do spend is spent unwisely. The manager appointment is a big sign of their ambition and knowledge, here's hoping John Terry rocks up
