Gooch is awful

He’s a trier, gives 100% most of the time but he loses the ball too easily and then gets petulant looking for free kicks that won’t come. He’s had his opportunity and needs replacing.
He's been told to take people on higher up the pitch. Does not always come off but put oppo on back foot. Better than playing safe. He's a good player.

Opinions marra. I don't think he's good enough to beat a man and he doesn't track back when he loses the ball. Shouts at the ref as if that's going to change his mind.

Opinions indeed. What it's all about.
Still will never call a player useless online, apart from Jack Rodwell obviously

Gooch has been with us since we were in the premier league, he got a few run outs off the bench iirc but to be fair to the lad, most prem academy lads don't make it. But we've fell to the third tier and been here a wee while now and I'm yet to see him progress. He's been the same player since day 1, a head down ball chaser, with a bit of work ethic but with terrible decision making. It sounds hyper critical but I've seen enough to know hes not good enough to be playing for a side wanting to get out of league 1.

It might be apples and oranges but when you look at dan neil, you can see theres something there and it might develop. That something was never there with Gooch and I'd argue the demise of our club came to his advantage. Had we stayed in the prem he'd have had a rapid decline down the leagues and would probs be back in the mls at best.

If fit will play RW tomorrow, and rightly so.Work rate, ability to play all over the pitch including both FB positions. He can reach levels of performance that certain supposed attacking players much heralded today on here will never attain.Wigan at home being an example.IMHO

Would love to see him push on as he has often shown signs of being a decent footballer but he’s been poor this season for me.

We have missed him to a certain extent and if he's back in tomorrow it allows Embleton to move back to his strongest position.
He was excellent against Wigan.......but...
