There were several Saudi flags on display on the day man, plenty have changed their avatars to it and dozens/ likely hundreds have been defending them online since it happened man.

Your own MP who has previously stood in Parliament and demanded the sale of arms to then stops, has said she "welcomes them" and that she "hopes they'll change" this, after also wasting Parliament's time on 3 occasions, going on anout Mike Ashley and highlighting working conditions at his factories.
You’re wasting your time. They try and take the piss about the amount of pages this thread has ran but they have not one good word to say about the owners on any of them. Speaks volumes they’ll defend their own actions towards it purely because they’re minted.

Rightly so tbh.

Edit for clarification, I mean MBS. I have no reason to dislike Staveley etc.

Several? I saw two or three, maybe. I guess that's 'several' but nowhere near the number of fans in the ground not flying those flags or playing dress-up.

There are dozens of dickheads changing their twitter handle to a Saudi flag or whatever and they're dickheads. But, again, that's a minority and I'd suggest that it's either stupid kids looking for attention, or people who are so dense they don't see the problem.

The MP is chasing popularity and attention. I couldn't give a shit what she's up to.

No.

If you think that Newcastle fans are in somehow in favour of a murderous regime (simply because of which club they support), then you're so blinkered by something as trivial as football rivalry it's bizarre.

You've just answered yiur own question man. A quick Google search brings up more than 2 or 3 images of fans with flags and you've admitted a load are changing their avatars to it. Not to mention the actual club requesting fans nitnto sport te tiwelsnon their heads (would they have felt the need to do that if it was merely a handful, do you think?).

You may be in the minority but come in, your fans as a collective have swallowed this whole and embraced whoever the owners are as long as you can throw silly money at footballers to feel like a big club again. Be honest, that's what ia really happening.

There's a couple of things there. There are dozens of twitter accounts with Saudi flags and there were a handful of daft lads wear headscarves and the like. But the ground holds 50,000 odd Newcastle fans and an overwhelming majority were not doing the same. So, to paint the fanbase off the back of a few, is ridiculous.

The fans are excited by the prospect of a future propped up by the untold riches of the new owners. Of course they are, literally every club without that kind of money would want that kind of money.

The new majority owners are murderers and bigots and tyrants. So every signing, every development, every 'success' will come with a big f***ing asterisk. And rightly so.

But almost every single Newcastle fan I've spoken to about this says they're conflicted.

To suggest that Newcastle fans as a collective are somehow in favour of beheading gay people, or bombing Yemenis (not sure if that's the right term), is f***ing silly.
You're justifying it being on here defending your fanbase.
They are two very distinct things.

One is an indefensible regime. The other is a fanbase that you're accusing collectively of supporting an indefensible regime. And you're doing that without rational thinking, because you support Sunderland and think that hating Newcastle and it's fans is part and parcel of that support.

The 110 000 signing a petition begging the head choppers to take you over are complicit in the crimes. As are the what aboutery merchants. To a lesser degree so are the ones just saying nowt but still handing over money to fund global terrorism.

of you weren’t that conflicted and begged to climb into bed with the murdering fuckers. You’re fooling no one.

It's 99% of Mags who support it man. I've not seen one Mag not celebrating it. And don't give me that got rid of Ashley bollocks. Mates of mine who are sensible most of the time have been posting WhatsApp images with tea towels on. If the cap f***ing fits

Are you able to confidently state as fact the thinking of each of the 110,000 signatories? Were they all dead set against any other takeover? Was the Saudi takeover the only one they wanted? Was it because they love what the Saudis stand for?

Or, did a lot of people sign a petition in the hopes of accelerating the departure of Mike Ashley from the club?

I've said it before, but the fans are defending the club as they see criticism of the club as an attack. They shouldn't defend the Saudis (or Staveley or Reuben for that matter) but they will. In a similar way to Scousers defending Suarez, or some of your lot defending Johnson. That isn't whataboutery, that's just an objective acknowledgement that football is tribal and when the tribe feels attacked, they'll muster a defence. It might be a stupid f***ing defence, but they do it. Newcastle fans are not alone in this regard.

I'm not sure that the pittance the Newcastle fanbase are putting into the club will fund global terror, but every fan has to make decision that's right for them. For some, it's too much and they've walked, for others they can see a distinction between the club and it's owners. Just as they did under Ashley.

Support what? A takeover? or specifically the Saudi takeover?

If your mates have sent you, a sunderland fan, pictures of them in tea towels, is it possible they've done it to wind you up?

I haven't followed this thread now for quite some time, but have you seriously considered to just stop posting for a bit? I think some of your points are reasoned, and we have had some debates over the last few months, but relentlessly posting about is seems a little sad to me, It's literally none stop.

Quite a few, myself included could benefit from this advice. I'm just going to chip in with my shitty banter from now on - there is literally no point as reasoned debate can not be had.

This is my only account. Never had another.

Football is trivial, always has been. It matters so much because it doesn't matter at all.

And there - in one reply - is an entire microcosm of your posting history on this board.

*Say something definite.
*Get response.
*Deflect from the point.
*Engage more replies.
*Troll the board relentlessly until the entire point is missed and the thread derailed.

*Repeat*

I never respond to your posts precisely because of the above.

The main point:
Your club is owned by a despotic, undemocratic regime with a horrendous human rights record and is responsible for 100,000 deaths in another country because "they're the wrong type of Muslim".

In short - EXACTLY the type of ownership you'd take to the streets to march against if it were SAFC or any other club.

Yet you expend weeks on here wanting us to accept your supposedly "nuanced" view of supporting it and supporting your fellow NUFC fans.

Your personal support for your owners - who are directly responsible for "the worst humanitarian crisis of this century" (United Nations) - flies in the face of your own political beliefs and diminishes you with every post.

I will now revert to my previous stance of "no engagement" - no matter how much "whataboutery" you engage in.

Bye.

The people signing the petition were not under attack - they just wanted people to spend 100s of millions on players. Yes they may not have thought through what they were doing - that’s why I used the word complicit and not responsible.
It’s very significant part of your support and I don’t think any other club would have got anything like that sort of %.
I don’t think 99% of your fans are actively supporting the SA regime but a small percentage actively are. On top of that it seems about two thirds have welcomed the fascists and will defend and deflect for them which makes them morally complicit. A tiny percentage are actually actively raising concerns.
Luckily the wider football world are by and large disgusted - not just SAFC fans. I think it’s highly likely that you will see this again tomorrow.

They are a strange bunch aren’t they ?

Saudi takeover. And of course to wind me up. Not one of them are opposing it. Like I saidcif the cap fits. If you are against the Saudis why don't you start a Protest Group?
