Very little chance we make it much further but wouldn’t it be ace. On Twitter they are pointing out but but man city, Chelsea are still in it. minor flapping but still funny. I mean the fact a league one club (lowest ranked) has made it to the quarter finals over a 300 billion premier league team is too funny 😂

It's a tough ask to go on but remember 1973, upsets can still happen. The PL teams are likely to rest players and who knows.

Not sure what this has to do with me....
It’s in context to that particular discussion on the thread. One of your chopping friends posted on not 606 that Walter Smiths death would deflect from criticism of murdering children this week. Not one of your fellow supporters condemned it.
I wondered what your thoughts on his comment were as one of the less retarded mags on here.

I've said this before about wages as 'better' players will mean an increase in annual wage total. Yet people have been talking of the so called £190m budget (due to FFP articles) as if they can spend that all on players fees. I wouldn't say they'll be paying £250k a week but they'll be pushing well over £100k or more which is £5m a year on 1 player.

They'll also have to pay a bit more given the northern factor. If Linguard is offered £100k a week for 3 year contract at West Ham then that's just over £15m in total and more than enough for a lifetime. It's not as if Linguard is skint at the moment either given what he'll have earned so far in his career, his last being a 4 year £15m contract also. Even if the Mags offered £120k a week, does he really need another £3m given he's already a multi millionaire? Where would a multimillionaire rather live to spend his money and mingle with many other multi milionaires in a shit load of places? The weather isn't a huge factor but it may still add to the negatives of coming up north. Is is really all about winning things for players these days and even then success isn't even guaranteed at the Mags anyway.

It could well be that NUFC end up with a base down south nearer to London (or Manchester) and just ship the players up for home games. This will allow players to be where most multi millionaire 20 year olds (and WAGS) would want to be.

The pressure on players who do actually come to the Mags will be greater than going to say West Ham. They could also have a look at social media to see what will happen if they don't perform up here.

I won't be surprised if the Mags have to pay a premium to attract players (like they did in 90's) to not only come up here, but also step into the spotlight of the whole football world watching them. Those watching the closest will be the fanbase with high expectations due to a delusion of the 90's when they spent big. I'd dare say some players will say "Fuck that, do I really need to be that greedy?"
Money and greed go together. The modern day footballer is now a business. They will get plenty of takers and the public reaction will eventually fade.

They won't get plenty of takers at all as footballers are decent footballers are already multi millionaires and look at their manager situation, it's not as if they're queuing up.

There's a huge difference between now and the 90's when north east teams paid big money is the increase % compared to the going rate. The mags gave Shearer £36,000 a week (nearly £500,000 in today's football money) yet the season before Arsenal were the highest paying Berkamp £19,000. The average wage in Premier League is over £60,000 so you're looking over £100,000 for an above average player and that's before you add in the Northern factor and the stigma currently attached to the Mags.

For example Jesse Linguard is finishing his £15m contract this season so do you think he needs the few extra £1,000's a week to come up here and not go to say West Ham, Leicester or Everton and live with a shit load of other multi millionaires? (not just footballers).

There is no way the Mags can offer silly money to players this time around as they simply haven't got the revenue to do it and won't for a while, if at all. They may spend £50m on a player but then you have to add in his 3 year wages of say £100,000 a week so that's another £15m over those 3 seasons. So that's 3 above average players costing the best part of their FFP limit over the next few seasons.

I think it will all go tits up but maybe it won't but they certainly won't be winning or even challenging for anything soon so what will the fans be like? I think the investment in the club is more likely in the buying of hidden gems to develop and possibly sell in future, the academy again to develop players, SJP (or possibly moving) and also land/building developments in the area.

The other huge factor is that in the 90's the gap between clubs wasn't as big so the extra TV money from the Premier League helped flatted the money side. This time around there are 6 hugely financial teams all with the same aim and also Leicester, Everton and West Ham sniffing around the scraps. So that's 9 teams that have a huge advantage over the mags so apart from a freaky season or a cup run, I can't see them going anywhere soon before we join them back in the Premier League.

The problem they have is the type of player they *think* they are in the market for will want Champs League footy or at least a chance of it.

The reality is, if they do manage to persuade one of those players to join it will clearly be for the money, which will say everything about where that players priorities lie.

Got to take into account the agent fees and other extras as well. Look at the fees we payed for cheap shit players, imagine what it's gonna cost them to get 3 £40m players in. Then they will be looking at loans and free's which will please the mags no end

Guardiola does not have any weakened side in the cup (4 wins on the bounce?).
I'd love Liverpool at home as Klopp has 0 interest in this cup, and hopefully names Jordan Henderson on the bench.

I will. I’ll drink loads of pop then go on their fastest rollercoaster, whip oot the old python when it’s at full pelt and cover everyone in atomised urine that smells of pissy sugar puffs

You've thought this through WAAAYYYY too much mate...

No one care when they were suffering under Ashley because they werent f***ing suffering

That reply?

"Bin Salman your the one, you still turn me on".

I hope that's a lass?
Because if a bloke has written that about MBS there's every chance he'll be "learning if he can fly" from the roof of the stadium.
