T20 World Cup thread 🇦🇪 World🏆

Really strange decision, he has played in multiracial teams, so what is his problem. Still a young lad who has probably turned his back on a pretty lucrative international career. He could argue that taking the knee, serves no useful purpose, or is simply gesture politics, but to refuse on "personal grounds", leaves him wide open to charges of racism, which will not only end his international career, but probably his professional career as well.
How does one get charged with racism for not taking the knee?

aye, he can’t be forced to do anything, but he can take that stance sat on his arse at home.

glad they won without him
It’s a massive issue not just for SA Cricket, but SA in general.

It’s ignorant beyond belief on his part

yep the same old arguments brought out for footballers in England simply don’t apply here

there’s a possibility they might just not pick him now like.
This Pakistan bowling outfit looks very good. If Rizwan and Babar Azam can both have good tournaments they are serious contenders.

the will bat a certain way believing it will get them par scores on these pitches that they know and will trust their bowlers

Mind you this is an interesting point

The gesture of kneeling is historically linked to taking oaths of fealty certainly in feudal societies, kneeling before god is very much a christian gesture to show humility before god etc. Maybe some people just don't like the idea of kneeling because of its historical connections with servility. Of course there could be other reasons especially given the divisions in a society such as South Africa but the gesture does push buttons with some people.

Personally think its just a fairly empty gesture that does not do anything to change the fundamental problems even in terms of awareness/education but its their choice and should be respected. Maybe other peoples views on the gesture should also be respected and not forced upon them. Its a tricky issue.
