You see it doesn’t bother me as I’m not a mag or a Geordie the people complaining about it on here are moaning for getting lumped in, it’s up to them to do something about it if they want. They are quick enough to jump on smb members who make the mistake but I’ve never heard them criticise any radio presenters or journalists that do it 🤷‍♀️
I’m from South Tyneside and it wasn’t uncommon to hear people call themselves Geordies throughout the 80s

Since ‘92 the meaning of the word has changed outside the North East. Cultural terrorism in action ;)

Anyone taking objection to this is late to the party but they absolutely should get it out on Twitter etc, “the tongueless man gets his land took” and all that

'The PIF isn't Saudi Arabia' defence is semantics (if not downright lying), so, you're literally doing the PIF's sporstwashing job for them by citing the EPL's lack of morals as legitimacy for PIF.
Their website is . They’re blatantly lying and laughing in our faces.

This is a protest at one thing in particular which mainly has the three points:
  • Newcastle was bought over by the Saudi Arabian government under the disguise of 'PIF'
  • The Sauda Arabian government has done everything in the list which is the factual truth.
  • The Premier League is corrupt for letting the takeover go through.
If someone wants to have an argument against those three points then good luck without looking an absolute idiot. There's not really a right or wrong side. There's just a reality or deluded side.

Can’t argue against those points unless delusional, anti democratic or sports-washed completely tbf.

Who is the chairman of PiF again?

They haven’t even tried to hide it and the PL have rolled over and hid behind a lie that they think it’s ‘legally’ separate. For the record the first couple of weeks have been a disaster for the sports washing aim.

This is the exact type of shit I was talking about. This may appear to be something hilarious to you, but continues to perpetuate the falsehood that all terrorists wear headresses. Are you stating that the Saudi Arabian in charge of PIF is responsible for terrorist acts?

I'm not saying that you should not rightly challenge MBS and KSA for its horrific human rights records, but we have to be careful who we target and what we are saying.

I don't post much, but i've been a member of PF since 2014. I've seen a lot of your posts, and like quite a few posters, have seen you make enough bipartisan or well meaning posts to pick up that you seem like a canny person.

I'm not going to pretend I don't know what you're talking about. Working at a secondary school, i've seen and had to reprimand bairns who think it's okay to wear a cloth on their head and say things like "Allahu Akbar" etc.; generalising an entire people. So you're right in saying it is an issue.

However, you've got to agree, that most of the complaints being made are legitimate regarding the PIF, and that most of the criticism directed at them is not racially grounded. I'll meet you halfway and say some of it definitely will be, though, that Palace banner is pretty blatant in regards to who it is talking about.

Is this the hill you really want to die on?

Whatabout Ashley ,whatabout Bruce
whatabout Palace when we thought that we might lose
whatabout saudis whatabout trying
whatabout all those makems lieing
did we ever stop to notice
all the blood being spilt before
did you ever stop to notice
the mags are now not poor
ahh haa ahhhh
ohh hoo ooo

One thing I thought about in all this is when people say politics and sport shouldnt be mixed.
So this might be said about palace fans for doing this banner…………..but politics is exactly the reason why the PIF bought Newcastle. To give a political smoke screen to their other practices!
So with this in mind I think this give carte Blanche for other banners! Because sport has directly been used for politics

The banner was pretty accurate as far as I could tell with nothing to suggest any thing said was in appropriate, in fact it was accurate but last paragraph should be read by those who are making up these ridiculous complaints and being inflammatory. If accurate reporting is to be suppressed or removed then we are all well and truly fecked.

BLM and all that is totally different though and is more a support group against anti racism rather than a protest. Similar to Stonewall for the LGBTQ+ community etc. There's arguments whether that should be in a football game but that's irrelevant here (I'm not really bothered either way).

Add to that the British government is corrupt for interfering in this

Board Members
Under the chairmanship and guidance of HRH Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Board is responsible for overseeing PIF’s long-term strategy, investment policy and performance.

In fairness I get what your saying but, you could argue it's an anti-politics banner saying keep politics out of football. Like you said 'PIF' haven't bought Newcastle because of their history or interest in football rather than looking at it the opposite way.
