It doesn’t matter who it was aimed at, it referred to the ā€˜saudi’s’ that’s a nation! Xenophobic!

Racist! The owners and rulers are. The ā€˜Saudis’ aren’t. Also look at the offensive cartoon. Get educated!
It's a depiction of MBS with the word PIF, the entity entirely controlled by MBS. In the KSA when a lorry load of rocks is reversed and tipped onto the partially buried live body of a women who has been raped and who is therefore guilty of adultery, only one man has the power to stop that MBS, he never does though. You're defending the indefensible.

Have to applaud Palace fans for that, it's not cheap, crude or racist, it's factual and political.

It's the only way to resist sportswashing, those guys want to look respectable by buying the mags and everyone seems happy about it on the most global TV product in the world. Well, make sure everyone sees we are not with visible protest.

That police are coming down on them is a f***ing joke, but then they have taken on some extraordinary powers during Covid and can basically do what they like when it comes to silencing protest. Fuck them - hope other fans do likewise.

I know what you’re saying but then there’s the most high profile 40+ mag..Shearer..’we can dream again’..’the fans deserve it’..i would love to hear his opinion on the Palace banner yesterday.
He was live NBCSN from LA yesterday giving his opinion , he actually said , QUOTE ā€œ what has happened in SOUTH AFRICA 😳😳😳 needs to be addressed separately from sportā€ 🤪🤪

I thought you were trying to make some grander, ā€˜clever’ point but now I’ve no idea what you’re on about.
I was illustrating how the state/ police is now used to shut down, what should be a genuine discussion about those in power and their actions and whether they are compatible with doing business in the uk.

it was also a comment on how these discussions are turned quickly in to binary slagging matches on social media, look how quickly this thread has been shifted from a genuine discussion of the regime in to a slagging match where two binary opinions are formed and you are either on the ā€˜right or wrong side’. This is how this discussion will be conducted in the media.

I was also commenting on the irony of this banner has been discussed on here in an open way whereas other discussions on here, specifically about taking the knee and Covid have been filled with horrible and hateful binary discussions that don’t allow for a nuanced position at all.

of coarse I don’t believe any of the bollocks I said above, I just wanted to make a point. This is part of a wider problem and I think the tread would benefit from de compartmentalising the story and looking at it in a wider context.

The banner has PIF on it..there’s no mention of Saudis on the banner.

Yeah but nor but but yeah but.

I'm absolutely baffled as to how a sign so obviously and specifically aimed at PIF and nothing else could then be deamed as racism because they've managed to twist into being aimed at the whole of the Saudi population. It's f***ing bizarre

I know the point you’re trying to make. It’s still bollocks. There’s no equivalence between being anti discrimination (or even pro BLM if you’re going to insist that’s what the knee is for, which you no doubt will, even though it’s not as has been explained a million times) and being anti the Saudi regime and the atrocities they commit.

The main problem with the mags is the press have been piping them off for so long, they turned into some fucked up version of the emperors new clothes. No matter how stupid they behaved, punching horses, mock funerals, smashing up their own town centre. the press still licked their hoops calling them the best fans on the planet blah blah blah.. Finally the little lad has shouted ā€œbut they’re a complete set of morally bankrupt cuntbubblesā€ and the world can now see them as they are. Vile hideous Gollum-esq knob heads. Shame it took a take over from a murderous regime for everyone to see them for what they actually are.
