I'm currently walking from Sunderland to Cornwall for Cancer research, it's been very hard physically but more mentally as I'm on my own in hotels etc.

However you lads and lasses in this thread, alongside those dosey buggers up the road giving so much laughs it's kept me going. When I'm having my breakfast or supper at a restaurant etc I'm on my own with this thread keeping me entertained over 3 course meals sometimes.

Now the tea towels are making a return, honestly the mags are the best comedy since Peep Show 😂
Well done you an amazing effort 👏👏

Beheadings, flogging and persecution of minority groups, stoning women, bombing bus loads of little kids going to school, murdering journalists and f**k knows what else is ok. Displaying a banner criticising this is a criminal offence?

The world is f**king mad.
As oppposed to investigating the actual human rights violations
I thought it was the KSA that were fond of denying freedom of speech/expression? How is this banner racist? It may point out some uncomfortable truths that doesn’t make it racist. Are we not allowed to criticise human rights abuses in our own country?
how far up MBS arse has Boris disappeared? This is getting a bit sinister now.

The reporting of the Palace banner is a headline story on the main BBC news page:

Newcastle takeover: Police investigate Crystal Palace fans' banner criticising Saudi Arabian deal

The headline doesn’t do the piece justice as the actual content is really just reiterating the Saudis’ atrocities. The Mags are going to feel victimised again.

Nufc fans are mad.
This banner (except for the bit assuming the blood money bribe to the PL) is 100% correct.
Newcastle fans know this.
What have they got against it?
Part of their rational for accepting MBS as owner is that they've convinced themselves it is positive to have him in the PL as we can get him to change.

could be viewed" as an opportunity for decision makers in Saudi Arabia to witness how other cultures treat minority people"
"There is potential to be a positive influence to improving the conditions for the LGBTQ+ community in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere,"

As soon as people start highlighting how appalling we find Saudi Arabian law, and how appalled we are with MBS, nufc fans want people to stop highlighting it.
it seems they want us to accept MBS for what he is, and don't actually want him to change.

To stick up for a regime which they know does everything on that palace flag is abhorrent.

I'd rather we stayed out of it. They expect it from us. It's be dismissed instantly.

It hurts more coming from the likes of Palace, clubs they genuinely thought had no opinion on them.
Going to be saying the exact same thing to my mate who is a mag and coming around tonight.

Scousers are not happy at all.
From RAWK
Abramovich and Abu Dhabi should have been shown the red card from the off. It's those running football that have allowed this catastrophic shitshow to take over the top flight.

Newcasoil are just reaping what you sow when you align yourself with and defend fascistic murderers.

Sorry 'Mags' but you are now the most despised club on the planet, alongside Abu Dhabi FC, Paris St. Qatar and Abramovich FC. Shit stains who deserve every bit of flak they receive. The useful idiots that are the fanbases of those sportswash vehicles should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves, but aren't.

When you put your head above the parapet and welcome murderers with open arms, don't be surprised if someone lops your head straight off. A bit like how many Saudi citizens feel themselves, just because they are gay or don't agree with their fascistic rulers. All they want is a bit of respect and a peaceful life, but risk being murdered because of it. A little bit of abuse from opposition fans and human rights groups is surely nothing in comparison, you whingeing, whining, snivelling, odious little sportswash enablers.
‘The arse has fallen off Newcastle. The city just as much as the club. They've absolutely disgraced themselves over this.’

‘I expect the entire duration of the ownership of that north east club, by the alleged murderer MBS, will eventually emerge as the uncomfortable acquisition for the PL and the British establishment as we all predicted on this forum. It may take years though.
Meanwhile, that Newcastle fans have immersed themselves in such an egregious regime, who are despicable in any measure of humanity and equality, is sickening.

Traditional values replaced with a false identity.
Pride replaced with false ambition.
Graft and personal sacrifice replaced by human disgraces.’

It’s a flawed rationale mate. As you pointed out. They are twisting and turning like a hooked fish. I keep on saying it but I can’t grasp how they didn’t see this coming. There’s a growing ground swell of revulsion. The BBC, Sky, and any amount of ”journalists” skating around it, excusing it, or just ignoring it won’t make it go away.
No matter how much they deny it they knew what the Saudis are. They don’t care, they welcomed them with open arms and the whole world knows it. How they can put trinkets before human life escapes me, but they have. All this we can help them change horse shit is just that. Horse shit to make themselves feel better. They might buy their own propaganda but no one else is.

That’s not the best one mate. The link was posted earlier in the thread. Have a read through it. If you haven’t already.

Aye, I was just doing so. I posted prematurely as you’re right, there’s just a catalogue of posts absolutely hammering them (I updated my post above with a particularly damning one).

The more the Mags get criticised the more defensive they get. But they're defending themselves by defending the Saudi regime. They’re siding with and aligning their club with the abhorrent Saudi hierarchy more and more, thus the criticism grows and the cycle starts again. It’s fairly grim.

I think it’s a generational thing. Mags who are maybe 40+ will be alright because they grew up when they were utterly dogshit.

Anyone my age grew up in the keegan era and as a result have a huge chip on their shoulders. Older Mags tend to be alright in my experience.
I know what you’re saying but then there’s the most high profile 40+ mag..Shearer..’we can dream again’..’the fans deserve it’..i would love to hear his opinion on the Palace banner yesterday.

They didn’t like the negative attention of one banner, made a big song and dance about reporting it to the police and now that negative attention is magnified front page and centre and the main talking point of this week’s football.

There won’t be much public sympathy because while a grinning MBS in full Arab gear wielding a giant cleaver could be seen as racist it’s also satirical. There’s literally a phone recording of a bloke being chopped up on his orders.

Like a fat bloke in quicksand. The more they struggle, the worse it’ll get.

Other fans will see the attention it has garnered and fancy a bit of that too. Expect bigger banners each game.

Have I missed something here? Shouldn't MBS and his associates be in the Hague and not being allowed to buy an English football Club for the purposes of Sportswashing?

One good thing is obviously any manager or player who signs is going to get dogs abuse. Boro last week, Palace next. Everyone they play will hopefully do this and while they will try to hide it in grounds the more it will grow and the pressure will mount. Nothing illegal about banners that state the truth. They can't stop freedom of speech here as they do in Saudi.
