Tried to wind up my dads next door neighbour today.

He said something like "I supported them 50 years ago, I supported them last month. I cheer the lads on the pitch when they're playing. Not the suits".


I respect that. To be fair though, he's never been the type to worship Rafa or shout about Ashley. He's just an old school football fan. A rare breed I suspect.

Mind he wouldn't bite, and criticise the owners either

I am a Geordie and my whole family are Geordies and we all support Sunderland.

Please remember to use the correct terminology unless you are saying you 'hate' a reasonable pecentage of loyal Sunderland fans.

Mags not Geordies, there is a difference and I am living proof. I am a Geordie with sense and taste.
 
In Pompey, Geordies and Mags are synonymous. Annoying but I'd imagine that's how most people alien to the region see it. I didn't have a clue about the nuances between 'skates' and 'scummers' until I moved down here
