I was through Newcastle one Saturday morning after theyd recently signed Mirandina and they were waiting for the pubs to open in grass skirts/Brazil shirts/skunk shirts/Hawaiian shirt combinations with those flowery Garland things around their necks.

Ive still got my sombrero up in the loft from when i was a kid.

That's nonsense. Benitez didn't want him and certainly not at £40m, even Ashley says that. It's commonly accepted that Bruce wasn't behind the signing either.

>80% of fans who filled in the Athletic survey said they were concerned about the human rights issues. So, you're talking shite.
And 80% will do absolutely nothing about it, unlike Mike and his zero hour contracts and the pay day loans. Hypocrites of the highest order.

Saad Aljabri, top intelligence official in Saudi currently in Canada, today in the press claiming bin Salman wanted him killed just weeks after the murder of Jamal Khashoggi and has subsequently imprisoned two of his children in an attempt to make him return to Saudi and face, erm, ‘punishment’.

They live in a world of double standards, contradictions and excuses that prop up their delusion.

Bruce was awful and Rafa a God despite the same record.

Ah, but Bruce spent more.

That’s weird, I thought their gripe with Ashley was he wouldn’t spend any money?

No, it was the abuse of his workers they were really mad about.

Well what about the many moral sins of their new owners? Will their be similar loud and never ending protests?

Its not their business to worry about that sort of thing, they just support the club and can’t help who owns it.

Embarrassing.

I agree questions should be asked of the PL/government. But newcastle fans are openly engaging in sportwashing of the saudi image pretty much enmasse. 99% couldn't care less about what their owners have done and what they stand for. Its a shame to see people from the NE act like this tbh.

I don't think it's a simple as 99%. I think there will be diverse views.

You sold out Bradford at home one boxing day because of Charlie Red Pants propaganda, you would sell out in seconds if you became one of the worlds richest clubs. Every club would be the same.
You know more than me. I bask in the glow of you.

Anyone could say anything, to appear to be doing the right thing, on an online survey. Fact is, the Newcastle crowd gave a standing ovation to the new owners, and just about anyone who’s ever played for you turned up, fawning and guffawing for the cameras, desperate to be relevant and to bask in the glorious rebirth of the Geordie nation.

Keegan going on about winning the jackpot.
Aye, it appears you have, when it comes to being rich.

‘one of them geet rich awab man’ has finally showed up.

But…….this whole thing is not right. It’s wrong. The populist media will no doubt allow it to pass but those educated know the truth. and Newcastle fans playing the victim saying what about this or that or the other will not make a difference to that fact. You’ve gotta make a stand and the majority have failed.

The selfishness has been obscene.

Has the arrogance outweighed the ignorance?

I honestly can’t tell.

You know the reason for that. Never before has a manager with such an average record who played utterly turgid football for a group of fans that demand to be entertained, been so idolised. He was idolised because he was a big name who had managed truly big clubs and won things. It made you feel big. On a par with the clubs he’d managed previously. Having him as manager satisfied the neediness that is endemic in your support.
You're wrong..'he had a plan' apparently....
* No you're absolutely spot on 😂

They could let their voices and disapproval be heard for a start. They certainly managed that plenty with Ashley.

They could not dance around the streets celebrating the arrival of a despotic regime. They could not take to social media to undertake the Saudi governments bidding by being complicit in their sportswashing with deflection and whataboutery. They could not stand en masse to give MBS's right hand man a rapturous standing ovation...

In this instance there's been no dissenting voices.

That's probably the best outcome on the grassroots, some activism and visibility. I think I heard Bayer fans have done some thing like that with their ownership issues (Phillippe mentioned this on Football weekly the other day).

Extra attention can be a detterent. It also might make people actually notice the bigger issues (people knew about khassogi but I bet a lot more people know about Western arms dealing to KSI now).

I think the long term solution on the football side would be better regulation of ownership rules.

Look at how they reacted to the stadium name change under Ashley to now. I know there's a subtle difference in what I suspect is being proposed but the difference is mental.

They are so desperate to win trophies and to be able to lord it over the rest that I think they've lost all sight of what a club is meant to represent. And its an absolute joke if anyone seriously thinks they are now anything other than a flimsy cover for the despotic saudi state.

Having the first Brazilian to ever play in England was hugely exciting back then. I'm sure he scored for Brazil against England at Wembley just before signing which really ramped up the excitement levels !!
Miran Mirandinha
He’s not from Argentina
He’s from Brazil
He’s f***ing skill

Still remember this being chanted on the streets of south Tyneside.

Couldn’t be further away from jealously. Part shocked it’s been allowed to happen, part disgusted that fans are buzzing about it, part not surprised, as of all fans I’ve met anywhere, it’s Newcastle fans who can’t see beyond the end of their own noses.

Geordie, “Whey, ya cannie be havin a pay day lones company on war top man, it’s just not reet”

Informed they’ve been taken over by one of the most brutal, bloody, evil dictators in the world after the nayshuns campaign

Geordie, “owa lass needs to gan get more tee-towels so I can look proper mint for war new owners at the match on Sarrada, and download Instagram so a can post a load of pic-chaz of uz drinkin cans with towels on me heed”

The inability to look at oneself objectively is above all what makes being a mag a mag, that and delusions of grandeur.

You guys fook this appointment up and see you next year for more horse punching, rioting action when Dan Neil and the lads take the piss at your blood drenched stadium.

FTM & MBS too
I'm not a f***ing mag, it was tongue in cheek.🤷‍♂️

Our survey says, you’re a boring ****.

 I mean, you seem to be operating under the impression that Newcastle fans are different to Sunderland fans in that regard. You lot have your own history of embarrassing and shameful moments. So does every fanbase. So lets not pretend that your conviction is anything other than petty tribalism.

If you truly, wholeheartedly, think that Sunderland fans wouldn't have been reacting the same way if the Saudi showed an interest in your club under Short, you're only lying to yourself.
Benitez wanted him but advised them not to spend £40m as he believed he was only worth half that.
Nope. Already shared a quote from Ashley that shows Benitez didn't even want him at £20m.
