Fox Hunting

I live over the river from you I think?I saw one last night in the street, and one today dead on the road in Staines, they are everywhere locally.
I worked in west London for many years and most of them are covered in mange. Some amazing looking animals rurally that you would never get near on a hunt ( when they were allowed )or a rifle
I watched one walk down Joel St in Northwood Hills one afternoon at about 3pm just before the schools kicked out. It didn’t look too clever

I didn’t want to comment on the pending trial and I was surprised the post didn’t get pulled to be honest . But, snitches get stitches so I didn’t report it either.
I fully agree that if someone has done wrong that they should face the consequences and that goes for either side of the divide. I only follow one hunt and know that trails are laid every meet.
The daughter actually rides and has seen foxes whilst out , all running in the opposite direction and never seen one killed. They’d obviously been disturbed and got out of there and it’s a bit comical how inefficient it is. However, it’s a good day, great tests of a rider but unless you involved it’s difficult to understand what it means to a community. Similar to the dolphins thing that people got fixated on the other week

There's nothing written about the trial in the Packham thread that wasn't being reported in the news. That's where I took all my info from, so don't think it was a problem. The issue here for me, other than the wider fox-hunting thing, is that it's not just a question of an individual doing something wrong, but a systemic refusal to follow the law, lying to the landowners who extend the use of their land to the hunt and the rural law-enforcers usually turning a blind eye to it.|

And I say this not as a townie but as someone who lived, growing up, ten yards from where the hunt met.

Yup, lots of mange ridden fox, seen some really badly infested ones, must drive them mad.

It was the comment about the pending trial as opposed to the links
The bloke has been found guilty so it’s now fair game

What a load of nonsense . It's all about land management.. it's been done for centuries..

Rabbits can do a ridiculous amount of damage to crops as do pigeons and deer
Maybe let the foxes cull the rabbits. Nature has a way of keeping everything in balance, humans do not.

This is true. I recall a story about the Australians interfering in nature and bringing in rabbits to fix something and guess what, they are overrun with rabbits 🐰

Everyone entitled to their opinion and/or view. Dealing strictly with hunting with hounds, imo that is barbaric and should be properly stopped. I don’t know enough about potential damage foxes do so I can’t comment on other methods but I would say @cornish mackem puts a strong case forward for humane methods.
Still don’t know if he does it for a job or for fun as he has stated “job” not sure if he also supports illegal hunts. He didn’t want to be a grass

So how many of my pigs do I allow the fox to get before I take action ?
How many insurance claims do I make for the horses on my land can I make before Saff thinks that enough broken legs is now a problem?
How many hours rebuilding granite hedges do I have to spend before I satisfy your denial that some wildlife needs management?
you say you live in the countryside but you must live with your eyes shut. It’s a beautiful place because someone has made it beautiful
Don’t farm pigs, eating meat is unsustainable.
