They will encounter the same issues we used to have when we were managed by people like Jack Ross, Simon Grayson and Chris Coleman - guilty by association.

Just as good managers were put off by being contracted to a club ran by bad owners, and in our case of course it was Stewart Donald or Ellis Short, good managers will be put off I think by their new owner Mohammed bin Salman. In our case Short and Donald were just inept, in their case it is the link to a state known for human rights abuses.

Eddie Howe is the favourite along with Fonseca. Would either really be happy working alongside someone whose closely linked to the ruling family in a country we know Saudi Arabia to be?
It will be a test of their character, right enough.

I can't believe Bruce wasn't aware of the situation he was going into, surely he knew what the sad fuckers are like and they didn't want him.
The 8 million quid will be adequate compensation for his hurt.

Yes, Donald and Ellis Short have committed similar acts to Bin Salman haven't they?

Spot on. The thing is with Bruce, he had us playing some really good stuff when Bent was banging in the goals. Unfortunately an inability to replace outgoings with equally better players and an over reliance on loan players helped lead to his downfall. His interviews didn't help him, regularly playing the pity card and talking about the fans as if we were clueless. The fans turning on him had nothing to do with where he was from.
I agree that he overplayed that stuff about his Geordie heritage. Very few of our fans cared about that.

I genuinely think they'll struggle to get anyone decent. A lot won't go there because of the murdering bastards, and a lot won't go there because of the ridiculous expectations. If this sponsorship things gets rubber stamped yes they will improve, but not what they're expecting. Then there will be hell on again.

It has always baffled me the double standards in the football community. It always gets mentioned about showing respect to footballers on social media, that racism, intimidation, bullying etc will not be acceptable in any form. Media jump on the bandwagon and highlight stuff that happens to footballers when things are going bad. But when it comes to Football Managers, well it seems to be just accepted that Managers will be hounded by fans if things don't go the way they expect.

I've never been a fan of Bruce, but have had to knowledge how he has tried to carry on with his job despite the constant abuse he has received.

He didn't get a chance from the start because he has a piss poor record as a manager, not what anyone needed or wanted, he had a worse win percentage than any of our last 5-10 managers, most of who had managed over 500 games....

Take away Rafas games in the championship after spending £55m with what was already best squad in league, then the records are not too far apart.

It’s a good rule change and should have been done years ago. If you don’t agree with the sale, surely this rule change would have a positive dampening effect on the Saudi influence?
I agree the rules need to be changed. I do not support the sale. The issue I have is, prior to the Saudi's, we had Abu Dhabi and the Russians. I do not recall, but will stand correction, the likes of Man United & LFC challenging the rules when Roman bought Chelsea or them requesting changes to the rules when City's new owners arrived.
What has changed?
Is it a case of NUFC's new owners have crossed an imaginary line of abhorrence or is it that the 'usual hierarchy' might change?
