I don't know how all this is going to turn out for NUFC both on and off the field but I have a feeeling it's not going to be in quite the way that a lots of Mags first thought it would.
Given the length of time this takeover has been talked about their competitors in the Premierl League have obviously had a long time to think about how they would respond if/when it happened. To my mind the restrictions on sponsorship deals that the Prem Legaue members is imposing on NUFC isn't something that they have just thought of. I am sure that it's a move that's been planned well in advance.
Apart from NUFC only Man City abstained from voting for the rule change which suggests that someone has spent a lot of time getting all the other clubs firmly on board before the rule change was formally put. A whole bunch of Clubs don't all go along with something like that at short notice there are always those who want to think about it. The PL intend this to be a demonstration to NUFC of how united & determined they all are in their opposition to the takeover
I doubt if this is the only nasty surprise that the PL might have up its sleeve for NUFC in the forthcoming months if things don't change. I am glad though that SAFC isn't currently part of it because if we were every Mag would certainly hold us to be entirely responsible for it and we would never ever ever hear the end of that. Happily we can say that it's nowt to do with us.
Does this mean that we can now safely conclude that the Mags are officially no longer everyone's favorite second team?

I agree that's why to me how all the Clubs voted in favour of it (bar NUFC and Mab City) is highly significant. It's a demonstration of just how united they are in their opposition to the take over. I am sure that when first approached to support the rule change some of the Clubs would have said "we won't get away with it."
When challenged the PL will just withdraw it . It won't cost them anything unless they want to fight their case in Court but NUFC will have to get legal advice and send letters before action and all that.
I was not there so I can only comment on what I have seen and what I would expect. Most of the media photos I have seen are the same few knackers.
I would argue, despite not attending, there was not 2000 in 'fancy' dress.

Surely if it’s a rule passed by members of league, then all clubs should adhere to the agreed rules. It’s no different to FFP rules which are purely for the PL clubs, which they voted for and therefore have to abide by.

It's turning into a real mess isn't it.
The authorities need to get this under control quickly before it gets completely out of control. The ethical and moral issues aside; imagine a competition where one player is wealthier than the rest by a factor of a nations wealth.
What's the point in the competition any more?
