Lots of us have problems with the fact that Newcastle fans aren't 'reacting' to something that's just happened and they had no control over. They've actively been pushing for this takeover for months, despite what their new owners would represent.

Sadly I put that down to ignorance and a complete lack of understanding of what goes in in Saudi Arabia - which is the best defence I can offer for those runnign around with tea towels on their heads.

Honest question, I know most fans feel a sense of relief, we've had shit owners as well. But, how would you feel if any of your new owners were directly responsible for atrocities that went against human rights?

But the point remains, if he is so anti Saudi Arabia, why is he encouraging the sportswashing by attending an event? Is it ok because he's paid for it? Surely he's benefitting from the exact same blood money? He's just another in a long line of hypocrites.

When Chelsea and City were challenged previously the bloke tweeted 'it doesn't matter where the money has come from' - why's he happy to turn a blind eye then?

My point about banning him and the likes of Bird & Caulkin isn’t about that one tweet in isolation.

Their whole attitude towards this has been as bad as your support in campaigning for and welcoming the Saudi’s with open arms.

They have been at best complicit in the Sportswashing happening and at worse completely negligent in their roles as journalists.

They can backtrack all they want, but as with the north east MPs who also wanted this, there is now way back for them now.

Wait until your new owners commit their next atrocity. Although not responsible by fawning over them Downie etc have effectively aided the the Saudi state in it’s attempts to clean their image by owning an English club without a word of concern raised.

All I see is celebration, defending the regime, whataboutery and some very soft "they're not great but hopefully they'll change" comments. They'll avoid lumping them all together when the serious dissent from groups of nufc fans is voiced. But we all know that isn't happening.
