NUFC/Sportwashing

No idea how you reacted but it was cringeworthy seeing grown men apologising for Saudi. Not the charvas like in the famous flag pic - these are just daft kids who couldn't pick out Manchester on a map never mind Riyadh and likely never even been to a live game.
If Dennis Nilsen took over and had Dick Van Dyke as director whilst he took a back seat I'm still going to be a Newcastle United fan but I'm going to despise Nilsen, whether he poured 20 pence into the club or 1 billion.
So I think you can see my stance.

Many in the NE have taken the Saudi Riyal and know what it is about. Doesn't mean you have to love the place, defend it at every turn and apologise for it's actions. There was absolutely no dissent and polls showing 97% fans welcomed KSA kept them at the table for all this time. There will be some good days ahead for you, of that I am sure, but NUFC are now the Western face of KSA and that will have ramifications.

Newcastle United become a plastic club when they play above their in house means, which is likely going to happen. I will still be a fan of that plastic club and of the team of likely sickeningly overpaid superstars on that pitch, playing (hopefully) some fantastic football and known as a threat to a title/cups and what not. I will enjoy it if it happens and that's it.

I have absolutely no control of anything to do with it, even if people think I have.
Collectively people have control over anything but collectively people tend to act in pockets which are never enough to effect change.

If people would then all atrocities would cease and all perpetrators would be brought to justice.
Until everyone rises up against corruption and atrocities in all forms, nothing changes.

Forget about PSG/City etc. Qatar, UAE are mere gnats and KSA are top dogs in the region and NUFC will be used by every campaign going to make their point. Afterall, they can hardly campaign in KSA! I really don't think they have thought it through and no end of PR campaigns and twitter bots will protect them from the negative attention.

Enjoy, it couldn't have happened top a more appropriate club!
Like I said, I'm not in control of anything and what will be will be.

Morals only come to the fore when jealousy rears its ugly head by opposing fans or people.
Reasoning can and does get made for a set of morals for one thing against another, depending on the severity of the issues being argued.
Newcastle fans would be using the exact same arguments against Sunderland if the situation was reversed. Why? Because the bitter rivalry with some and the seething jealousy with some would rear its ugly head and the old saying of " I wouldn't lower myself" would be cast out far and wide.

I can understand many people being outraged by the owners of Newcastle United but like I said, morals come to the fore as and when cherry picking is deemed necessary.

Most likely. When the bandwagon gets rolling and the seething issues get into full focus, Newcastle will be on the end of it and the fans who go to watch and also those who simply support the club in any way shape or form.

Every game we win will have blood on it.
Every trophy we win will have blood on it.
Fans will be akin to monsters because they chose to follow the club they grew up with and continue through thick and thin.
The new fans will be also despised for actually making that choice during this ownership.

So what do we all do?
Do we all walk away and go and choose another club or simply don't bother at all?

I hardly doubt many fans will be thinking about politics of countries if allowed to get on with simply being a fan of Newcastle United.

I'd also hazard a good guess that this same regime, had they taken over any other club outside of the usual rich clubs, would get the massive approval of the majority of fans of that club and would gain a massive amount worldwide if success came their way, in short order.

Morals only come to the fore when it suits, for many people.
As outsider looking in you do make some points. However, and I say this with no history of the rivalry with both clubs..

Your fans have never stopped protesting about Ashley, you are the kings of protest, the kings of of entitlement, us neutrals laugh at the sheer bollocks of all this " we deserve more".

What is really sticking in the throat of others is that not once has their been any protest regarding this takeover, even traipsing down to London to protest about the premierships initial objection to the takeover. The Saudi's have had your pants down, they are not daft and will know 100,% that If any fans would suck their hairy balls, it would be the gullible Newcastle fans who when offered the chance of a superstar, would keep quiet about their atrocities.

In fact not only keep quiet, but shout from the rooftops about how fantastic they are.

The sad part now being, most neutrals would not have begrudged a trophy heading its way to SJP, that has been eroded overnight.

Even some sort of protest.....like you did with Ashley.......would have given your fans a little kudos.

Curious that you feel the need to defend yourself to Sunderland fans when every paper and website is discussing potential signings.

But, but.....

Aye but have you ever watched a Disney film?😏

I realise that being in the 3rd division means you lose track of the likes of the Champions League and other major stuff.
But honestly I thought most football fans knew how many times Real Madrid have won the Champions League.
I'm happy to educate you.
