NUFC/Sportwashing

Mike Ashley is irrelevant. Notwithstanding - regardless of the extent of your entitlement complex, it remains the case that he (1) has never had anyone murdered, (2) doesn’t - to my knowledge - fund global terrorism, (3) doesn’t throw people off buildings based on who they sleep with, (4) doesn’t stone women etc etc,

So to answer your implied question - yes, I would expect a large proportion of decent people to publicly voice an opposition to the Saudi state buying the club/using the city to launder its reputation and its blood money. I would expect that regardless of who was selling.
But the nature of the beast that is a sniffling for success would render most of the population of a city or town of football/sports fans, would push that to one side as politics and concentrate on the potential upgrading of their club's fortunes.

Of course you sit easy knowing your club is not owned by them.
It's exactly what I've been saying.
It's about taking the moral high ground when the situation suits.
Newcastle United fans cannot help who buys our club. If they could they would've had Ashley gone well before now.
So just because they support their club does not mean they agree with the external attitudes of the owners.

I suppose you're trying to tell me your Sunderland fan days would be over if you were taken over by owners who were nasty and inhumane, right?
Until they left the club. But then would you reintegrate yourself?

What about those fans that still went. Maybe some you are great friends with who merely want to support the club? You would disown them? Even family?
If the answer is yes to all then do you think that would be shared among the thousands of sunderland supporters?

Seriously?
You can support your club and still oppose the owner though.

How about banners with "support the team not the regime"
How about a protest outside of the ground every home game.

There's two examples, but no next home game will see thousands upon thousands of vile arseholes with tea towels on their heads welcoming some of the most abhorrent people on the planet with open arms. That's the difference.

To b fair this stinks of mere hatred and jealousy.

Fine but people have a football club they have allegiance to, not the owners. It just so happens the new owners are very rich and are looked upon as nasties. That's out of the fans' hands and very few fans will desert the club they love. It doesn't mean they agree with the external mindset of the owners.

To be fair I won't be looking at it this way.
I'll just be enjoying better enjoyable football based on the players who perform and hopefully give me more joy, like any fan really.

Whatever you want to call it.

Really?
Tell me how they can stop it?
You’re right about the hatred, We have 2 gay family members, your new owners would have them stoned to death and your f***ing idiotic fans were celebrating them taking over, dancing about like gormless twats dressed in saudi garb. No I’m not remotely jealous, I’m disgusted that your shit house club is now owned by murderers.

Of course the fans can help with who owns you. If Alien heed loves the club and fans as much as she's saying in the media you could have said please look for someone else too back the consortium. But no all you seen is the money and all she seen was a set of gullible desperate fans.
Just like Ashley she will try and keep the fans happy at first (hire Keegan/Shearer type managers)then when it goes tits up the fans will turn on her.
How can you have your club back when the majority shareholder will never ever set foot in SJP?

They've spent 14 years supporting the team and protesting about the owners. But the slightest whiff of a few £10 notes .......

recall the french day they had & waving the tricolour & Frank spencer berets 😂

As has already been pointed out your support pushed for this takeover on a large scale. The majority were desperate for it to happen.

I dont know how I'd react if they took over us. I suspect id have been extremely uncomfortable with our support had they acted likes yours have. But I dont think they would.

Whilst we're all essentially the same from the NE your support has an undeniable superiority complex its desperate to maintain and a belief that you have to be winning trophies. We differ there.
The superiority complex you talk about is is only brne out of jealousy and hatred and it doesn't cover all Sunderland fans either.
When all's said and done we all have our sections of mindsets/groups, whether it be on football and sports or politics...etc.

I hark back to morals but that's basically subjective.

They do support the owners though. They’re f***ing loving it. They would suck them dry if they didn’t face a good old death by stoning for doing it.

Are you really that dense, or are you just pretending to be stupid as some sort of comfort blanket?

If any significant proportion of Newcastle’s support had publicly spoken out against this takeover, then it would have zero sportswashing value and the Saudis would have walked away. That would have been easy to do - not least in this era of social media.

As it is, almost all have bent over backwards to roll out the red carpet, and practically beg these people to come and “save you” from the “horror and suffering” of years of relative finically stability in the premier league.

Just look at the official NUFC LGBT group for fucks sake. Newcastle United is now owned by a man and a regime that publicly flogs and chemically castrates people, if they are “caught” being gay. Under Saudi law, a second offence is punished by death, with no exceptions. Often by way of blindfolding someone, tying their hands, walking them to the top of a high-rise building, and pushing them off.

You’d have thought that this small detail might be be enough for the NUFC LGBT group to draw a line. But no - they have gone with “yeah they’re a bit bad, but they appointed a woman to negotiate for them so they’re obviously about to change”.

Thousands of children lie in the dirt in Yemen. Thousands. Isis continues to receive its Saudi funding. Kharshoggis fiancé still has no answers about the whereabouts of his body (parts).

But yeah, there’s nothing you can do pal. It’s all just the life of a football supporter. #AnnounceTarkowski #Cans
