Put a flat earthier into space

Look in the mirror.

I am going to look in the Hydrogen / Helium superfluid mirror dome instead - by my calculations it is either near Wuxi or Scunthorpe so either 100 km or 8000km from where I live, will report back on how it looks unless I die on the way as I try to approach the forbidden zone. Thinking about it though superfluid forms at -272 deg C and Hydrogen freezes at about 262 deg C I am nervous about what I will find. Also the carbon (sorry Super carbon) arc reflecting back at me along with the regular undetected pressure wave might also cause me a few issues
Where are the rockets even going? Surely they don't deny the rocket takes off, do they? Are all these companies doing communications satellites and the like just making models for show to chuck in the bin after the photo is taken?

I honestly have no idea - baffles me completely that someone can believe all this utter twaddle

by definition if you outright dismiss the history of human learning and understanding and put forward the point that you alone know reality to be different then that's exactly what you're saying.

But I don't outright dismiss the history of human learning and understanding. You lumpo it all in because I'm going against a set of narratives pertaining to Earth being a supposed globe and all that goes with that mindset, so I'm bound to bring into question everything that goes with a global mindset..
I think I could be wrong daily.
We all could.
I know I'm not clever.
It depends what you regard as being clever.
Each person has their own set of skills, whether mental or physical or both.
So, to be fair, you will be clever in your own way, just like others.
I seed my knowledge to authority on subjects beyond my level of intelligence.
And that's absolutely fine as long as you accept this to be the case.
This is why debates go on and on because both sides must provide proof to finish the debate or offer potentials to carry the debate on.

You don't try to provide any proof and dismiss all proof.

Why do you think you're right and billions of people are wrong, liars or simply too stupid?

I don't dismiss proof.
Show me proof that I can't dismiss.
Do you have any proof?
Water level is one proof that is there for all to observe, test and repeat.

Why do you think billions of people are right on this?

people have showed you hundreds of times on this thread and you dismiss it all out of hand.

I believe the consensus view in terms of scientific/mathematical proof is the most rational to go with. Peoples from all walks of life, different countries, political systems, religious beliefs, communism, democracies, republics, dictatorships etc etc etc all use the same science to run their societies. All these competing peoples and places, many of which can't stand each other and in many cases want others to fail or collapse all use the same scientific framework to run their affairs. If it was all bullshit they would be calling each other out on it constantly. Unless as you will think with your conspiracy logic they are all just mates who are lying to us.

Shown me what? Proof?

It would be if it was a rational proof. Where's the rational proof?

Peoples from all walks of life, different countries, political systems, religious beliefs, communism, democracies, republics, dictatorships etc etc etc all use the same science to run their societies.
If that's the case then why have all these religions.....etc?

All these competing peoples and places, many of which can't stand each other and in many cases want others to fail or collapse all use the same scientific framework to run their affairs.
Can't stand each other?
We get sold this story but is the story a reality?
American so called astronauts hitching a ride on an old Russian soyuz, as we're told.
Russians in a so called space station among Japanese and many other countries. allegedly. And we're told they hate each other. Seriously?

If it was all bullshit they would be calling each other out on it constantly. Unless as you will think with your conspiracy logic they are all just mates who are lying to us.
And you don't think this is possible?

To be fair, I have only recently started reading up on stuff I took for granted and I doubt many people could give the scientific basis for a lot of stuff that they believe.

However, this Nukehassle bloke has some weird condition. He obviously cannot comprehend simple science.

Just listen out for the sound of strong light and the smell of Tuesday, and you will be fine.

Nail on head with the second part.

I do think these threads are interesting in a way, apart from the laugh at the freak show and the trying to understand conspiracy theorists in general. They do make you think and I agree with one of the sentiments they preach "don't just accept, think and work it out for yourself". Obviously only if you are interested enough, but how many things do we just take for granted? One example is while walking the dog one day I looked at a rainbow and thought "does that demonstrate the curve of the earth?". From the scale of it, it seemed unlikely (too small relative to the huge land mass) but worth thinking about. Read up more and it turns out no. You can experiment further with a mist spray and your own light source.

But in general looking into this stuff is really interesting. There are ways you can do many of these things yourself, such as calculate the radius of the earth. Or the example that I put forward was we know the ancient navigators used the stars, but how did they use them. How can you use a sexton to work out how many miles south you have gone? It feels like something you shouldn't be able to do and just get from a book/internet, but actually you can and there is the "oh that is cool" feeling of just haven proven something without a rocket or expensive lab.

Though what the CTs do is deny everything, assume everyone is out to trick them, everything is a lie and never climb down from that stand point. Reject things on the basis they don't measure up to their personal expectation, don't actually investigate, get so invested in the conspiracy they just point blank deny anything, and then replace it with a complete fantasy that doesn't stand up to the same scrutiny as they applied to the model they rejected, and spend a lot of time telling everyone else they are the stupid ones.

I've proved Earth is not a globe we walk upon with water. You can all do this. It's observable, testable and repeatable.
Things you have proved....
That you cant understand a simple diagram.
That you have little or no concept of scale.

Things you have not proved....
That Earth is anything other than a globe.

The paranoia levels are scary in these types.

I used to watch a load of Richard Dawkins/Christopher Hitchens talks/debates and you'd find what you describe his mindset the same as the young earth creationists. They'd use the language of 'questioning everything' as if they were doing the same as the scientific method. Thing is they wouldn't do any tests or detail and proofs (What proofs he'll say) and just come out with stuff that they want to be true to try and align in with their religion/faith. From the flat earth/dome people it seems to be that whatever is described as reality is fake as its from authority (their words) so can be replaced by anything and everything as all opinions are valid. They aren't.

What I find odd is the amount of people who would need to be in on it to go along with it. Its millions. And to what ends? If it wasn't a globe why make it up?
We used to believe the earth was flat. So why start the lie and add to it all the time? Where is the financial incentives for paying all these people to go along with it? Is it really worth the effort of 600 years worth of international lies and collusion? Who wins out of it?

It's billions.

It's odd though as he believes there's some sort of cover up going on but simultaneously believing that nobody has been to the central vortex or seen the ice dome. So they are coving up a thing they don't know exists!

Do you think it relates to a feeling of lack of control? With all the covid conspiracies, that was the ultimate time when most of us in the free world felt like we had lost control of our lives. We previously felt like we could go where we wanted, do as we pleased and suddenly we couldn’t. It was a time of great uncertainty. When could we go out, when could we return to work, when could we see family again, how many will survive? We have never faced those questions before and nobody was comfortable with that.

That really brought out the conspiracy nutters with all sorts of mad ideas about chips, 5G, DNA patents, an excuse to permanently lock us down and remove all freedoms etc. Sit waiting for news from Boris or the WHO for most of us. But convince yourself it is all a con, they are out to get you, you know the truth, then all of a sudden you are in more control then the rest of us. You understand the situation. That has to be a comfort if you believe it, though the levels of paranoia are not. If it is not real, there is no chance you will catch it, nothing to worry about. The majority of us thought we would probably be ok, but we all had the nagging doubt, what if I was one of the rare cases?

Now look at this discussion. It is hard to conceive just how big the earth is and how insignificant we are to the planet as individuals. Then consider the size of other planets and earth is tiny compared to 4 of them. They are nowt compared to the sun, which itself looks tiny when viewed from Pluto. The solar system is huge, but insignificant compared to the galaxy, which itself is reasonably average and just one of billions of galaxies. Me, you and everyone else are just a fleeting minute heat source in an ancient and changing universe. All of us could be wiped out any day by a particularly large solar flare or asteroid strike.

We are nothing and we are fragile. That is not a comforting thought. Just trying to understand the scale and complexity is hard. In terms of feeling control, we have so little you can’t describe.

So, dismiss it all and invent a new reality, one that you make and you are in control, not helpless like the rest of us. Big asteroid going to wipe us out, not them, they rejected that idea. The enemy is not an unseen rock, it is humans in suits in a plush directors suit deciding how to con the sheep next. The enemy has a face, you can hate them, that is far easier to handle. Most of the space and flat earth conspiracies have the earth as the only thing under a dome or the earth flat and unique at the centre of the Universe. That makes us special and unique, meaning more control and importance.

I agree with your whole post entirely. As for your last paragraph that is the exact same thing religion does. Pits all other religions against each other (or at least it did before more had to accept we're in the 21st century) so they have their enemy and can be confident their version of events is the right one.

I'd add the lack of control goes hand in had with the fear of the unknown or simply not knowing. This is scary for all of us but it seems some can't handle it and have to invent a world they can fit in.

As I'd guess you'd go along with not knowing can also be one of the most exciting places to be as it gives us (humans) something to strive for. This is probably why the species are explorers (who may or may not have been to the north pole).
