Nowt wrong with bit of daft singing at an away game, especially when you’re winning. If you’re offended by it, I assume you can either confront those individuals who are doing it, (rather than posting snidy anonymous comments on a message board), or, simply don’t put yourself in the arena to be embarrassed/offended by fellow supporters. If neither of them hit the mark you could always watch the match at home with the volume off, unless of course you do something there to offend yourself, then that’s a problem that I can’t solve.
 
Actually I rescind my comment about bowls being more suitable for the OP. The modern game is awash with cocaine and clubhouse swinging so probably too high octane for him.

As I already pointed out, nobody's defending Adam Johnson, they're correcting incorrect terminology. Calling him a paedophile is no more true than calling him a burglar, a murderer or a goldfish.

is there some unwritten law that means in a football ground this sort of nonsense is acceptable? you don't think children and non Neanderthals should feel welcome to watch their team?

I heard the IRA chant once sung by a tiny portion of our crowd, this was accompanied by supporters booing the chant

this is more like saying racism and rape are wrong and should not be chanted for by anyone in any circumstance, perhaps you could clarify this connection of being illegally obnoxious with supporting your team, where children should also feel able to safely watch their team and see adults behaving less like c*nts and that

Let's break that down shall we?
Sunderland boys on a bender sounds more like a homoerotic gangbang rather than a night on the booze, but of course not many things conveniently rhyme with sex offender and I doubt the inventor of the chant could manage to rhyme nonce.
Charlie Wyke is a sex offender - Wow. I mean, really? The bloke scored an absolute hat-full last season (shame he only managed 9 in the previous 2 seasons). An opportunity came up for him to sign a 3 year deal and he took it.
He followed the money. Like many of us would. You get next to nowt for loyalty these days. We need to stop being so f***ing precious about things.
Wyke didn't even play last night so what was the point?

We had an actual sex offender playing for Sunderland. A real one. A paedophile. Why do some of our lot think it's fine to throw that kind of slur around at anyone else? Particularly players who didn't leave on bad terms, they just left.

A great game with some excellent football from us, tainted by some of our lot who are frankly making themselves look as thick as a submarine door. I'd like to think that's not the case. We're better than this. Aren't we?
I won't even bother mentioning the morons who boo'd the taking the knee (for all of 3 seconds of it). I suspect if there's a venn diagram of the people who did that and the idiotic chants it would be a perfect circle.

There will always be good, not so good and rank awful songs/chants heard at the match; your upbringing and life experiences will depend which category they fall into in your view. Personally I would prefer to hear more in support of our club and our players (past & present).
