Yeah totally agree, always have think the principle and integrity of it a absolute disgrace

But don’t think that you can put it down to just the hundred, happened before in other completions, even this season Ashwin played just one game in the championship against Somerset who are well within a shout of winning it and his one game exclusion could have knocked them out of the competition as was final game before the next stage.

If I was in charge I would change the rules to stop that kind of thing happening in the CC, but it's not really the same as drafting in a player from another county to play in a cup final, in between games for his club.

Is there anything to stop any of the sides calling up whoever they want, assuming the ££££s are right?

Yeah like I say disgrace and insult to the other teams

I actually think the Ben Stokes situation is the same, probably worse as he was soo much a better player than the other players on the field, so certainly would have been a big deal to the team he was playing and massively decreased they chances of winning it.

Because to me what makes it a disgrace on both counts is the opposition teams have worked hard to get to a final etc, and think it’s beyond ridiculous that they then have to now face a player from the other team who has not played one game at all for that team!!!

Don't know if it's been mentioned as not been on this thread but espncricinfo have said that Durham and Bristol are expected to get Hundred teams as the competition extends...
 
I would have thought that the performance of our Test team should be sending shock waves through the ivory towers of FTECB. Too many players out of form, and no proper cricket has been played for weeks, so its impossible to asses the credentials of any potential replacements. Test cricket is the financial cow that has bankrolled county cricket for decades, and it will continue todo so long after the hundred has been buried.
 
I have a genuine question for those who have got hooked on this new format - Do you like it more than T20 and if so then why is it better?

I haven't seen a great deal of it but what I have seen is limited overs white ball cricket, animated commentators and music during the break. T20 does this although they dropped the music part. T20 finals day is quite a family day out with three games, a mascot race and one or two commentators making prats of themselves on the field during matches.

Apart from different team names, and different number of balls what makes this new format more exciting than T20.

I suspect I can reply to any answer with "T20 could do that".

I believe the thinking behind it was that people dont really associate themselves with counties, hence the selection of major cities to host the franchises, why this couldn't be done within the T20 format who knows.

its marginal gains but the double headers will be 45-60 minutes shorter than they would have been for T20. So to some degree that’ll entice families who want a shorter experience.

The couple of games I watched at the start lasted on average 72 minutes per innings. That's just 3 minutes shorter than a domestic T20 innings.

Has that improved since? If not it's not really saving much time.

Tbh not sure why anybody would like it more than T20 as it is practically the same, surely anyone who likes T20 would like The Hundred and vice versa.

What has disappointed me about ‘The Hundred’ is the top top international cricketers have not arrived that maybe to do with COVID ,hopefully in future years more will be here making it more like the IPL which is brilliant entertainment imo.

Yes and no, I grew up watching loads and loads of cricket as a kid both local team and national team as it was free to view and available to all.

I was obsessed with football as a kid and cricket as kid in both the winter and the summer, all that without watching one first class cricket game at a actual ground or a top level football game either.

Although of course as it develops would be great if taken round the country and more teams

In fairness I think when that has happened the player has been with the team during that season but has been away for another tournament/tour rather than brought in specifically for finals day (I could be wrong)

I was all for giving it a go and seeing what’s it was about but it’s not a patch on T20 cricket.

The scoreboard still irritates me, it’s takes a couple of seconds to work out the score.

A bowler bowling 2 (overs) in a row is a good idea but the rest is just rubbish.

When was this? Remember him playing a random league game for Newcastle City once to help him back to fitness following hand surgery.
