What do you do for charity?

That's got me thinking. I've seen ads to sponsor and save a tiger. It would be bloody annoying if you did that, you then went over to visit it and the bugger ate you. No more donations from me mate.

I have my eBay account linked to the dogs trust and every time I buy something I donate a couple of quid. Also buy what I can from charity shops. The socks I'm wearing now were bought from Barnardo's. The wife's parents were Salvationists and she likes to support the salvation army. She reads a lot and buys as many books as she can from their shops. I used to have a standing order to a charity but got sick of being asked to increase the amount. So I cancelled.

It's part of the Born Free foundation so is completely legit. I'm not anticipating tickling it's belly any time soon.

Having worked for a couple of charities in the past, it amazes me how much money gets wasted. Would never happen in a normal business where the bosses are spending their own money. There was 5 people doing jobs in one place that I could have done them all myself and still had a day off a week.

Instead of doing wedding favours we decided to sponsor a dog at the dogs trust. 8 years later and we’ve still got the direct debit going so they’ve done ok. I also have a dd to cancer research and will normally sponsor most mates who do either a decent challenge or have had a recent bout of bad luck.

My dad has always dedicated a huge amount of his time to charity work mainly through his church, helping poor families, asylum seekers, elderly, homeless etc etc. I’m in awe of his altruism but I’m not cut from the same cloth, I’ll do the odd thing on occasion but my spare time is precious to me

Not much used to do the GNR for charity but Foster scalping for charity tickets put me off.

At present due to the WFH situation growing my hair out for kids with cancer wig charity

the shite pointless gifts you have on the table when you sit down at a reception. Thought it was a waste of money so just put a note on the table settings that we’d give the money to the dogs trust
Support a couple of animal charities. Don't entertain chuggers though, they do charities a disservice in my opinion.

It’s always disappointing when you walk down a high street and some attractive 20- something bird makes eye contact only for you to notice her Banardos tshirt

Got ya.

Sponsor two Dogs Trust dogs and my lass has a DD to Battersea dogs home, my PayPal acc is linked to Blyth Rescue so when paying for stuff online I can round the price up and pay them the little extra.

the missus has a small monthly DD to cancer based charities after her dad died of cancer young. I coordinate an annual charity week with Year 12 students where they select a charity and carry out lots of events to raise money. Usually raise anything between 10 and 20k each year.

Nowt, but not proud of that

Had dd’s for loads in my younger days, but as I was young and foolish and shit with finances some of them bounced and I got charged off bank a few times, as they came out at random times of the month

I would love to drive for Marie Curie but it seems almost impossible to get any decent response when I contact them

When my kids leave home I’m gonna work a soup kitchen regularly incl Christmas Day

I have a number of direct debits set up for various charities, both national and overseas,
for small amounts. You can argue 'the government should pay for it' but fact of matter is they don't, and won't or can't fund everything.

Have found given more one off donations since been on Facebook. Been suckered in maybe.

Rarely give to 'chuggers'. Old fashioned way of collecting and giving now. Don't like been guilt tripped when they approach and start talking to you.

I donate to St Oswalds hospice occassionly.
I would NEVER donate to any big national charities eg Cancer research, heart foundation, help for heroes etc as imo too much £££ is skimmed of before it reaches the people it was intended for.
There's a reason there are so many charities.
Too many people making a fortune from them. Legal corruption and fraud
