Graham Clark and championship cricket

When people were criticising him for not getting scores they were mainly thinking of his championship form - those defending him pointed at his limited overs capability and he's now doing better than ever in that regard. I'd say no, not at present to avoid adding unnecessary complications when things are going well. But it's a thought for next season.
Me and my son were both saying last Thursday that we thought he should be given a chance in the CC the way he has been batting this year. Think personally its a no lose situation to play him when the CC resumes, because he will hopefully still be on a high with his one day achievements, which he may take with him. If he doesn't then we all know and he becomes a one day expert for next season!

My concern is that you would end up with a moderate championship player and a less effective white ball one. Perhaps he should look to hone his one day skills even more and that should be his main focus?

Why don't we play him in the Championship games as an opener & just ask him to bat as in one day mode.

The likes of Sehwag & Jayasiriya made test careers of doing this.

If it comes off he gets our innings off to a really fast start & puts the opposition under pressure.

Exactly-given this season's white ball form I can imagine Surrey sniffing particularly with his brother there to help bend ears.
Not so sure about giving him another opportunity in red ball cricket. Jones seems to be establishing himself in the middle order in red ball cricket and I've been very impressed with Doneathy. Also Bell, Crawshaw and Bushnell also showing potential. Door seems to be closing on Burnham.
Marty seemed to confirm this (regarding Burnham) a couple of minutes ago on commentary, as Burnham been told he can play for Northumberland for the rest of the season

Heard this morning he's been released by the club. He's currently playing for Northumberland.

Durham Cricket can confirm that batsman Jack Burnham has been released following the completion of his contract and will leave the club to explore other opportunities with immediate effect.

Director of Cricket, Marcus North said: “Everyone at Durham wish Jack the best of luck with his future endeavours.”
