I think hes a good player and its a fair fee. I'm surprised there isnt others in for him (that we know of) Everton etc.

Maddison is another player who will be vastly overpriced because of his passport, and no doubt that Leicester will see Arsenal coming on this one. They'll probably invest half the fee in a replacement and end up better off.

Arsenal used to be the best club about in the transfer market and Wenger used to pick up players for peanuts. Now they burn money and regularly have their pants taken down by smarter clubs. If they had any sense, they'd go for Bernard Silva at City.

We finished 10th? Christ it was worse than I thought. I didn't say he wasn't a good player I just struggle to see how he's worth that, we'd have been lucky to have got half of that before his loan spell. Always sad to see the Hale End lads go but he was never making it at Arsenal. Arteta just didn't fancy him.
 
I thought he would end up a softener in a deal for Madison. Done well for the mags. Be amazed if they put a resell clause in (from Newcastle) point of view as they will sell him in 18 months for some healthy money
 
In the pool of players we could realistically attract he is as good as we can hope for. He has shown he fits into the group and seems happy to play for Bruce. £20-£25m, in the current market, is cheap so I am happy enough. We need a striker though. Wilson, when fit, is good enough for a mid table side. The back-up not so. I expect similar to last season. A cup run,if we are fortunate with the draw, and a finish of 10th-15th.

We are weaker and just signing Willock wouldn't be enough. It's a great signing and a good start but we released a fair few squad players. Going into a season with Wilson and Gayle as your only strike options (both injury prone) isn't great.

Who left that will be a miss?

lejeune and muto out on loan last season so not weakened by them leaving

atsu and saivet not even in the 25 man squad so not a miss

Carroll scored 1 goal and was mostly injured, he’s the only player that’s left who actually played by my reckoning

am I missing something?

It's about having a squad and depth in that squad. Yes they were all fringe players, but the squad was wafer thing before they exited. We are even more likely to rely on players like Hendrick etc this season.

Yes we have trimmed the fat, but we haven't strengthened.

I couldn't name who the fuck you released. I don't even know have of your first team. That level of knowledge is either because he's obsessed and a sad bastard or a mag.

Haven't kept up to date with much of whats going on, but did suspect that. They've made a lot of signings over the last few years, some of whom I've probably forgotten about and whom will be on decent wages.
