~~Tokyo Olympics 2020/21~~

I've just watched a video of a lass being 7 seconds ahead and ending up last against blokes. Just seems a waste time.
It’s 2021. We have the Paralympics coming up next. I look forward to hearing your views on how it looks with folks with missing limbs running round the track, swimming, shooting, riding dancing hosses etc.
I'm on about the Olympics just finished, what has the Paraolympics got to do with a mixed relay, what are you saying here?

Each team has 2 male and 2 female runners. They can choose the order in which they run so that same team would likely have had a leg where their male athlete outperformed other team’s female athletes. It adds another element of unpredictability to the event and promotes inclusivity along the same lines as the Paralympics do.

It won’t be long before we’ll see races between athletes with prosthetics competing against athletes with a full complement of limbs.

Just seems daft to me, far too many events going on.

Athletics funding will be cut by about £1M in the run-up to the Paris Olympics.

Yet despite us never actually winning a medal in the sport, Archery will now receive over £2M in funding.

What a strange decision.

Enjoyed the mixed Tri, swimming and relays.

They were all generally good. The only one that didn't quite work was the mixed 4x400 track race and that was largely down to scheduling meaning a lot of teams didn't pick their strongest athletes. Tactically, everyone in the final ran a man on leg 1, women on legs 2 and 3 and a man on leg 4 so this clearly wasn't what the complainy poster above watched.

There'll be more mixed events in future - I believe a mixed synchro diving event is going to happen in 2024.

There was one race in the heats where one team ran a female on the final leg whilst the rest all ran males. It was pretty much as he described, she started off way ahead then one by one the rest of the field closed her down and overtook her. It was intriguing to see it play out rather than silly, I thought, but I guess it’s down to individual interpretation.

Ah, I only saw the final. Just looked at the result and, yeah, the Nigerians did things that way. It makes no difference to the end result and they set an African record.

Must be some rational behind it.. how much did archery get before.. it might have been 1.99 million so a hundred k takes them over..

Have you a link to the funding amounts.
Tbf it all looks out of kilter in places

If you drill into each sport you can see the historic funding for each
