Jofra Archer

What did he say?
Just tagged Archer in a long article detailing his opinion that Archer may never play test cricket again.

So Archer asked him to untag him.

And he said "no" and re-tweeted it, as if it was worthy of attention.

Lasted about ten minutes of people piling in and telling him he's a prick.

It seems innocuous and he's entitled to his opinion. But it's just a bit weird to try and make sure Archer reads it - the digital equivalent of throwing a newspaper under Archer's nose and telling him to read it. Why would he want to read an article predicting that he's finished? Guys going to be feeling pretty low as it is.

Very low behaviour in what passes for Twitter etiquette.

Has he deleted the tweets now 😂
he really is awful Vaughan.

Wish Archer all the best, seems a really nice lad too.

I read Vaughan's piece, full of shite as usual

The 1 point I agree on is I think he will be missed more in white ball then red ball though. tin hat on.
I know he's a local hero, but I haven't in all honesty seen anything from Wood at test level. He's looked as ordinary as his stats say he is.

Archer, aye, has underwhelmed after that incredible Ashes debut. He's a better white ball bowler than Wood for me.

Both, perhaps unsurprisingly, are better with the white ball.

WTF?

YOu didnt watch in South Africa or Anitgua then?

Fastest spells ever by an Englishman.

I dont wanna be harsh, or start an argument, but you have some outrageous views on test cricket like.

Wood is oridnary? He is the quickest bowler in the world
He’s a victim of expectation to an extent. His record in all formats is pretty good

his batting has turned to shite mind

He is a good bowler like, best T20 bowler in the world, alongside Starc, top 5 50 over bowlers

Red ball, he has potential, but he has been very hit and miss lets be honest, and not done a great deal since that Ashes. not really a criticism as he is so young in that format.

Still a big miss though, really hope this is something he can get over. just have to give him time to prove it.
Not sure he’s quick enough, Carse might a bit of a wildcard choice

I'd say the chances of Carse going to Oz now are very high

Few ex cricket journos at work, they dont know anything like inside stuff, but their view that England in the oz had this in mind

Robinson or Overton
Archer or Wood
Jimmy or Broad

only 1 for each spot, all with diff roles.

I guess Carse is the next off the rank for the fast spot? I cant think of any other tall quicks like that

Mahmood will go on the tour but not a like for like.

Stone would have been in the mix but he’s injured as well, I’d say Carse would be the next off the list as the quick. Obviously England watching him as he made the odi squad.

I hope Overton doesn’t go mind

I think he’s underated a bit Overton and he has got a bit quicker

he’s tall and at the stumps. Need an alternative for that role to Robinson

He is a prick. A tedious and bitter, rentaquote wanker is about all he’s about now.

I can’t believe some media trying to push this narrative that archer has been over bowled

he hasn’t

he bowled to much in NZ 2 years ago but not since

he’s been used in sharp bursts

he’s missed tests and series

Wisden wrote a piece which really annoyed me it’s like they’ve been in a coma since that NZ series

their office is also at surrey and all they do is push surrey and Essex players, a load of private school lads who have never been north of watford

anyway

I've heard that about Overton too but not really seen him this season.

I really like the look of Mahmood, think he'll be next in the team. Probably ahead of Carse but then England love a bowler who can hold his bat so that might help Carse.

Think you are being harsh on wood there. This year he has struggled more and his stats look poor, but two of his 4 tests were on sand pits in Asia. The previous 2 years his average was under 20 and has been bowling the fastest spells we've seen by an English bowler. He has rarely got a consistent run in the side either, but he out bowled archer last year massively. He can be wayward at times but that tends to be the case for fast bowlers. Still needs to work on his consistency and maintain his fitness for a prolonged period.
For whatever reason, Archer in tests bowls completely different to how his applies himself in ODIs, but he has years to develop in the test arena (if this injury doesn't cause lasting effects)
