Lack of transfers concerning?

just over a week to the first game and two friendlies left last one being this Friday! , i can't work out how some fans are not concerned ?

That will soon change if Wigan ease past us and target our non full backs
Think most people are concerned. Just a difference between being concerned and trusting the club versus being concerned and writing the season off.

Our manager's losing sleep over lack of signings, that tells us everything we need to know about the current state of the squad.

Not sure why everyone is fearing wigan, they have hardly signed any great players. We def need more players in but dont want us to sign any old shite. Need to get the right players in

Over 20k season tickets were bought in good faith by supporters at a time last season when promotion was looking good but due to a pathetic implosion in the last dozen games or so, we remain in the backwaters of English football.

Its imperative that we get off to a positive start against Wigan because, rightly or wrongly, it is indisputable that the natives will quickly grow impatient with Lee Johnson after too many poor performances and negative results last season, many of which were unacceptable even allowing for injuries etc..

This is our fourth season in league one, which for a club with our support and facilities should be deemed unacceptable. We’ve had enough bullshit to endure for too long now and there can be no more excuses.

I expect this new regime under KLD to be a success and am willing to be patient if quality is due to arrive in the coming weeks in order to get this season off to a good start but with the first match in just over 10 days we need to really know what we’re doing.

They did the double over us when we had Sanderson and a 30 goal striker

They’ve since strengthened their squad.

I’m not fearing Wigan, but those are the obvious reasons to what you’re questioning

i'm not saying i do fear Wigan it's just who were playing first game , and were seriously lacking players in key areas no full backs any team we play will expose this

How would you accelerate the process?
That’s not my job . How do other clubs do it .? We are at a huge advantage over 95% of this league and a decent management team should be pissing all over this league . We should be getting the absolute cream of any players going out on loan . We can offer those players the best facilities and the chance to play in front of huge crowds . We also should have one of if not the biggest budget in the league . Other managers have alluded how envious they are of our position yet we still can’t seem to use it to our advantage .

absolutely not bed wetting. I'm nervous and anxious about it as well.

I'm just not going to be writing anything off for this season based on our current situation. Nor am I going to judge whether the window has been a success or failure yet.

Nobody can guarantee it. I'm nervous as well. But that's the strategy and the point stands. I'd rather sign first choice on 30th August than 5th choice in June. The issue will be if we sign 5th choice on 30th August. And at that point we can all criticise / judge the window. But until then, as frustrating as it is for all of us, we need to have a little faith. People can moan about it, but people shouldn't be saying completely dismissive stuff like "we'll never get promoted now".

How do you know that? Such a juvenile over-reactionary statement.

I'd much rather we signed two full backs before Wigan, but think he looked decent there in pre-season so wouldn't be the end of the world filling in until we can get the right player.
Nothing juvenile about it at all, stupid comment to make. We’re clearly restricted by numerous issues around budgets/wage restrictions etc. Theres clearly 6 teams already better than us, only the happiest clapper can’t see that.

agree its extremely worrying

I read the other day that McGeady is having injections before the season has even started. Sounds to me like he may struggle with the 2 games a week rota.

Who takes the place of a player who's been pretty much instrumental to our attacking play?

Saying that we definitely "will be nowhere near the playoffs at the end of the season", is juvenile. Nothing happy clapper about that, sorry.

this is definitely a concern for me. I know this injection was pre-planned, but he's obviously not going to be the most robust of players.

Players, agents and clubs know all that yet we almost bust the club by paying over the odds for second rate players. What appears to be in our favour also works against us. Our owner has set his face against following that route, I sincerely hope he is committed enough to see it through.

We won’t be. This side needs massive improvement which i don’t think it will get. Nothing juvenile about that at all

And what about our captain who’s now got a recurring dislocated shoulder, or the starting CAM who has a lifetime cyst behind his knee and a heart murmur, or our starting CDM who has a metal plate in his head, our starting CB who is always injured.

Those who mention our first XI being two full backs away from being decent - aren’t taking into account injuries/suspensions. McGeady is on injections, hopefully Gooch’s hamstring is near to full fitness, Pritchard needs a lot of attention before being match fit. We are thin in every area other than central midfield.

I'm personally not concerned, though I think getting a left and right back in before Wigan is pretty urgent, given we only have Dyce as a left back option currently.

when you put it like that thats a very depressing read

Its even more concerning when on one hand we see the lack of signings ( as it stands the current squad is the worst we have stated with in lge1) and on the other , the club have bumped match day ticket prices up 35%. !!!!!!!!!

Keep saying it and it should be accepted by the supporters, wait until the end of August and the window closes before making a judgement. If the squads weaker , then is the time to have a go, not now. That will speak volumes for me to which way the club is going.

whilst I agree with a lot you are saying here surely we cannot hold LJ responsible should we not be able to sign the players in the positions that we need. If the owner cannot secure what he needs it's the owner who needs calling out maybe. As it stands and I have said this a few times on this board now, I don't think the owner is in any rush to get us out of here he does not see it as desperate. He certainly will not be throwing money at it which I think will dissapoint a lot of our fans...imho of course
