SMB Tennis thread

Breathing into a paper bag is completely different to breathing with a mask on. What a stupid thing to say.
I was just testing to see what you'd say. Given all the antimask stuff thought you'd jump at the task for an easy out but you missed it.

Whatever is going on with her, I hope it's sorted. The pressure on her after 4 top level matches was immense. She's clearly got a talent there. A bit more variation in her play and she should be aiming top 40 at least.

Just towards the end of the first set she looked to be struggling it might be nerves, understandable. However she may have a stomach muscle injury.

She looks a talent though. Let's hope so because British women's tennis needs a big player

The mask stuff aside, as I cant be arsed getting into that on here, I hope she sorts herself out too, probably all got a bot too much for her. From her interviews that I heard in the last few days she seems to put quite a bit of pressure on herself, exams wise etc, she needs to learn to manage the pressure she puts on herself, shes an ambitious lass. I reckon she has alot of potential, be interesting to see if she can qualify for other major tournaments.

Wildcard wasn’t she?

I got the impression it was after that long rally and she doubled over at the end

I just hope the media give her space to grow as a player. We have been here before with the hyping of Robson and Watson.

Robson would have had a very good career if it wasn't for injuries, she was a fair bit better than Raducanu realistically. Robson was a top 30 player before she was 20. Think the hype was justified with her.

Bit daft having a women's match go on last when they've gotta play tomorrow and the men have a rest day.
Someone was making the same point on Talksport today.

Apparently she was at Wimbledon for NINE HOURS before her game!

They should have scheduled the women's match before the men's, given that the women's games are normally shorter.

I wouldn't be surprised if she's not been able to sleep for the excitement. All those things will add up like.

Shapovalov's ability to throw in a horrendous service game at the end of a set and get broken out of nowhere is second to none. Few unforced errors, maybe even a double fault thrown in for good measure.

His biggest flaw by a mile.

Absolutely, done well to get to a semi final of a slam as hope he beats Djokovic however unlikely that is

Think he's a better bet to do it than Khachanov. KK looked shattered by the end.

Couldn't have backed Djokovic below evens at the start of the tournament just because of his mental collapse when he won the French Open a few years ago, but you're right I can't see who's gonna beat him right now. Berrettini would probably need to serve 100% first serves for five sets or something.

Someone said on here a few weeks ago Djokovic wasn’t good odds for this :D was always winning this , playing at his second most successful slam, that’s before you mention how much the so called next gen are a joke on grass , then you have the fact his main rival is a 40 year old returning from major surgery, 11/10 he was the week before Wimbledon , bet of the year that .

Nadal must be kicking himself for pulling out , even half fit he could have got to the final .
