SMB Tennis thread

EmmaMania hasn't quite taken over the SMB yet, but fantastic to see her talent and potential being realised on a massive stage, after barely playing for 14 months due to studies and Covid.

She'll now be inside the top 240, whatever happens against Cirstea on Saturday, and very likely to make US Open quals. I've been high on her for years - we've got a good one here.

Good to see you back posting mate! Not seen the user name in quite a while.

I was impressed with her last July when I saw her in that Battle of the Brits indoor tournament and remember you mentioning she was one to watch.

I imagine her next match against Cirstea wont be on Court 12.

What's likely to be on court 1 on Saturday?
Judging by the OOP for tomorrow, they will almost certainly keep the 3 and 3 arrangement on Centre and Court 1, so there will be 2 men's matches and 1 women's on one of those courts, and 1 men's and 2 women's on the other.

From the men's, I'd say the following matches will be on the 2 main courts

Federer vs Norrie (almost certain to be on Centre)
Kyrgios vs FAA
Then either Zverev vs Fritz, or Medvedev vs Cilic, maybe more the former, since Zverev was on Court 2 today.

For the women's, 3 of

Barty vs Siniakova
Gauff vs Juvan
Kerber vs Sasnovich
Maybe Raducanu vs Cirstea

So if I was having a rough stab, I'd say something like the following

Centre:
Barty vs Siniakova
Federer vs Norrie
Gauff vs Juvan

Court 1:
FAA vs Kyrgios
Kerber vs Sasnovich (or possibly Raducanu, with the other on Court 2)
Then either of the Zverev or Medvedev matches (with the other on Court 2)

I'm assuming you've got tickets, in which case I'm jealous. I was on that court 3 years ago and it was great.

I’d like to hope so but Wimbledon do like a British wildcard.

Calling it now (and probably jinxing it), Evo v Korda has serious potential for match of the tournament. Glad they've put it on centre rather than Djokovic v Kudla.

I was so close Barty & Kyrgios on different courts
Yeah, they seem to like having 2 men on CC, and 2 women on CC on alternative days, so I thought that was how Centre would have looked. I was 50/50 with Medvedev and Zverev, but I thought they might have gone with Kerber on C1 instead of Emma, with Angie being on Court 2 as well the other day, but a fantastic opportunity for Emma to add to her profile and reputation on a huge stage. Well away from the football (and Federer vs Norrie as well).
