Time will tell. If this doesn’t end on July 19th then his logic will prove to be correct. That date has been intimately tied to the vaccine rollout, so absolutely no excuses at that point.

Looking from the outside in from the country that was the worst in Europe there's 2 glaring errors from the govs side in this latest of many fuck ups - the delay in putting India on the red list and leaving the jab rate at 12 week intervals when it was known that double doses were needed

I think a single dose was more effective against earlier variants, so at the time it was a good strategy. This was also recommended by the JCVI

Another thing I've seen suggested is that had people not been vaccinated in age order & was done more randomly then current spread would have been lower.

Surely it's a win-win for the government, they either get a massive percentage of people vaccinated, or they have a ready made excuse for things for not opening up?

I don't get why they aren't on the tv and radio constantly giving out simple stats on how likely you are to suffer severe illness or death without the vaccine compared to with the vaccine.

Make it simple.

We are at a stage now where every single adult in the country is entitled to book one and millions apparently aren't.

Short of dragging people into centres and vaccinating them I don't think the government can do much more tbh. Once every adult has been offered and had a vaccine I'm in the mind of fuck everybody else who has refused it. Your body, your choice etc. While I wouldnt refuse them treatment I would have very little sympathy with them and the rest of us should be able to lead our lives the way we see fit

When the 40-50s were being done, I tried to estimate the number of over 50s plus vulnerable who had been offered vaccination to date. Although I didn’t count for NHS and care workers, the number I got was a bit less than the numbers done. While there was clearly a big margin of error in my guess, it suggested uptake was very very high.

It can feel like a lot of people on here, because every third post is from one or the resident loons claiming they will not have it or it is not working. But, it is mostly the same two or three posting the same thing all day every day, A few goalkeeper accounts pop up (often after someone is banned) and avoid all questions about what their other accounts are.

I’ve no idea how many are refusing, but I hope it is very small and just a few isolated paranoids.

Just from my small pool of people I have asked in real life, there is loads of under 30s not taking it. I've asked maybes 10-15 of the lads at work and probs half have said they won't. I reckon a few of them secretly will.

That's not the point - I'm happy with full capacity for people based in the UK or have quarantined.

But we shouldn't allow people in who haven't quarantined.

That may be so, but considering it takes 12 weeks to get both then another 3 weeks for full protection, it's not fair that we all have to wait another 15 weeks for things to Start opening up

I think they could be doing a hell of a lot more. Unless they are planning the 'if you haven't taken up the offer then fuck ya' approach, they really need to be doing more to convince people to get, if we are continuing with restrictions simply because not enough of the country is protected
