At the start I was a bit suss on him but it seems to be his confidence when it’s high he’s brilliant when he’s low he struggles

Aye I'd agree. Plus because of his technique, when he's out of nick, he looks horribly out of nick. A bit like Cook

I’m a bit cheesed off with England’s selection TBH. Crawley looks like he has never played the game before, and what do we have to do to get a spinner in the team? I’ve watched the game and played for forty years and the only time I wouldn’t pick a spinner is if was a Headingley green top. They offer so much to the balance of the attack and that’s two tests on the trot we’ve not had a spinner. FFS!

That being said it would be Leach over Bess every time.

We need 4 seamers because Wood can’t bowl long spells. So we’d have to take out another batsmen for a spinner, we’ve already got Wood at 8.

Not saying I agree with the lack of spinner, but without an all rounder something has to give. They have decided part time spin from Root is the sacrifice to make.
