Christ - you are as bad as them. I remember a mag on TS being asked by Cundy (who was fishing) how many times Newcastle have been in the Champions League - the response "Most seasons pre-Ashley....6 or 7". - the truth is two.Probably a fair point, but that's due to years of underachievement, you had a period of around 10 years of competing at the top of the PL and spending big money. That's still fresh in people's minds. Add to this that the regional media are very much pro Newcastle, your egos are continually massaged.

Fun fact. Biggest selling Ale in South Wales. All the heed the barlls in the Valleys drink it. Its never been as good as Double Maxim. Think the Howard used to sell it on draught. Lovely dropSo technically mackems own filthy brown ale??![]()
No, the fifth was in the Championship, because we'd been relegated the year before. The 5th out the group was 18th about 6 years ago.
So what point were you making when you mentioned finishes between 8 - 15th? Where you normally finish?
1I think you mentioned those positions not having a clue that, that's where Newcastle normally finish.
I mean the biggest difference is the players at hand.Update
44 - 45 - 44 - 39 (48 max)
It's not hard to see they are all likely to end up roughly the same over the course of a whole season (likely only one result in it).
Is there any reason your fans see the first two as world class performances and the last two as terrible and worthy of the sack?

Likewise challenging at the top:

Some statistics lessons for the deluded ones. No matter how you measure average they are "mid-table". ..bang average.

Prem Seasons in top 4 = 5 (20%)
The purple patch was a generation ago and won't be returning. This example should be compulsory for all year 7 maths courses in the NE.
No I said 3 out your last 4 PL seasons. No, the fifth was in the Championship, because we'd been relegated the year before.
But what does that mean for the takeoverBrewed in York now. I work for Heineken who own it.
64 page pull out with free murderer mask in the ComicalBut what does that mean for the takeover
Well done Brucey, cemented himself into mag folk law. Unlike the fat clip from Spain who relegated them.
And Ashley’s backing. However after the first XI you have poor back up. St Maximin, Wilson and Willock are canny as is Lascelles, the keeper and one or two others like JohnJer. Joe Linton and Gayle are poor strikers for a Premier League team. Carroll is past it. Almiron flatters to deceive and Willock maybe having a purple patch but either way won’t be back. But Bruce’s recruitment team have done ok with Ashley’s backing.I mean the biggest difference is the players at hand.
The first was achieved with Dwight Gayle Joselu as strikers. That squad in general had very little Premier League quality. It improved in year two, but it lacked depth. If Rondon had been injured we'd have really struggled because that team lacked goals.
Now we have quality and depth. Saint-Maximin, Almiron, Fraser are a good trio of creative attackers. Wilson is clearly the star man but we have Joelinton, Gayle, and to a much lesser extent Carroll. I've not even mentioned Willock. Credit to Steve/recruitment team, he's been an inspired signing.
Fat Wafa had Rondon, Perez and Gayle.I mean the biggest difference is the players at hand.

You obviously don't remember the lowest top flight attendance of the entire 1970s mate, you deserted your team pretty quickly then as I seem to remember.Depends if they went on about the LDV vans trophy as if it was the FA cup. If so then yes
Aye relegation in 2009 was followed by average crowds of 44k and relegation in 2016 by 52k crowds in the second division.
Relegation for sunlun in mid 00s and 2017 followed by crowds of like 23k.
but aye we are the ones who flee when times are bad.
Before 1992 so doesn't count. You obviously don't remember the lowest top flight attendance of the entire 1970s mate, you deserted your team pretty quickly then as I seem to remember.
Exactly mate,the man is a utter knob jockey.Before 1992 so doesn't count.
