New Music Releases Thread

Take it to the PMs lads. We’ve got Self Esteem’s new track and tour to discuss....

It’s good. I got a ticket.

Everyone is raving about this. Heard it in the background on 6 Music a couple of times but I need to dig in properly with headphones. What’s so special about it?

I mean, I don’t think it’s the best song she’s ever produced but I think it’s bold. I think it’s different to anything she’s ever done before and it’s really introspective. I don’t think you get many artists who come back with a second record and do something like that.

I thought Rebecca’s debut was excellent though and subsequently saw her live a few times after. Pop music done in her own way with no apologies. I personally think it’s quite special.

No worries mate, they have a new album out next month. Their first album is similarly chaotic but more heavier than what they’ve released so far from the new one.
Looking forward to the new album, was reading there it was recorded in Dublin by the same producer as Lankums "The livelong day", should be a good collaboration!

There’s a new DJ Format album out today. It’s all “instrumental”/samples (he refers to it as instrumental in his social media, but there are vocals - they are from the samples rather than guest vocalists) and completely different to the stuff he usually does - more like a DJ Shadow record.

I’m enjoying it.

Same here mate, if you’re north east based they’re playing Wylam Brewery on their next tour.

I think you Hit That spot on 👍
Hugely guilty pleasure, but Fall Out Boy's first/good album gets a long-overdue vinyl release today - it's been like rocking horse shit and I have it on preorder. There, I said it. Come at me!

Is that “Take it to Your Grave?. It’s alright, I actually quite liked “From Under the Cork Tree” too but it’s been years since I listened to either.

I was only 19 and 21 when those albums came out though, so I have an excuse ;)

I had TTTYG as a dodgy download, when Russian d/l sites were a treasure trove. Played it a lot, and I was certainly old enough to know better.

Carlisies Lucid Dream put out their nee record yesterday and it’s sounds great on first listen.
They’ve got their balance of electronic / psyche just right it seems this time.

a few canny albums this week, hopefully stays that way, it’s been a bit sparse so far this year.

Paul Jacobs is cracking, my favourite.

Teenage fanclub is decent, better than expected.

Roisin is great, prefer it over the original.

The Coral has some good songs, but that talking in between is a bit off putting.

Got the same feeling as you about Teenage Fanclub and The Coral after one play.
PJ Harvey's series of demo releases continues to please me. Released on Friday the Uh Huh Her Demos are quite similar to the album versions, possibly because it was an album she produced. Still a worthwhile visit for PJ Harvey fans.
Had lots to digest recently with Dinosaur Jr, Field Music, Sonic Boom and Luke Haines so have only managed to hear all these once, but Field Music stood out most.
