A couple of weeks ago I said "We need to keep an eye on Blackpool" as they were storming their way up to the top, and I got "So what?" etc back.
Well now look.

We have to play them twice in 10 days and they are tapping us on the shoulder.
Wigan for us next and then Blackpool, then Hull, AS (again) and Blackpool again.

Blackpool have us, AS and Shrewsbury to play.

Goes without saying we need to win every game to stand a chance of automatic promotion, but we (and others) need to knock the wind out of Blackpool's collective sails.

I'm not going to bookmark this as an "I told you so", but more to make a point that while it's important to chase down the top two, ignoring those nipping at our heels would be an error.

I backed Blackpool in August. Looked a fool in teh first month, until they brough in Coln Calderwood to sort the defence out. They bought well, including Garbutt and Yates (both SAFC targets) and picked up very good loanees from Everton, Liverpool and Arsenal. Then voted for the salary cap. Forward thinking and clever beofre the start of the season was announced. Meanwhile in Sunderland... thanks Donald/Methven again. So they are in a very good vein of form. We need to turn a Pompey away performance if that is possible.

As long as we don’t lose to them in either of the games we will finish ahead of them. They had a second half collapse at the weekend (not for the first time I believe) which let me down for £40 on my coupon.

I’m still looking at overtaking Hull rather than looking over our shoulders at Blackpool.
