Yes, he did. But, because fans were generally happy with shit on the pitch he got an easier ride from the local press.

I wouldn’t give them that much credit to be honest. That implies a certain level of intelligence, albeit limited. They could only dream of that degree of intellectual capability.

Course they don't. Jesus christ, have a look outside your bubble. Man Utd fans, Liverpools fans, Arsenal, Chelsea, Villa, West Ham, all the way down the leagues and including Sunderland, they've all at some point pitched a fit because their arguably reasonable owners aren't behaving the way the fans want.

Don't recall any of them have boycoutts, badly spelt bedsheets, shout at shops, punch horses, have sack the manager websites, travel to Premier league headquarters in the middle of a pandemic or plead with murderers to buy them, etc,etc.....

Comparing the owners is a fool's errand. What Ashley has done is wrong, but to my knowledge, no one has died. My only issue with it is I've seen a significant amount of criticism aimed at the fans that have absolutely no say in the matter. I'm not a fan of the fact 96% are ok with it, but I also know a lot of my friends accept their views matter fuck all.

Barry Glendenning is a parody of himself at this point, but the fact so many like him have portrayed this as a responsibility of the fans, and not the like of Ashley for accepting it, and Boris Johnson/MPs for trying to push it through is laughable to me. They were quick to scoff and laugh when we'd protest big Michael - "I don't know what they're trying to achieve."

Blame those with their hand on the lever.
