Astra Zeneca

You realise must young people don't bother with the news? They'll see the headline, see social media bullshit and be put off.

Mate.

Kids booze, do drugs, have unprotect sex - they do all sorts.

As soon as they're told they can't go to Malia then they'll have whatever shot is available without asking questions.

I swear some lads forget what it's like to be 21.
No mention of date for the 40-49s. Tuned in to expect this but wasn’t to be - again.

Is there a reason why other countries advise differently?

For example, if I was living in Canada, Germany, France or Finland, I wouldn't be offered this (I’m 33).

They're not

The chances of a thrombosis from the AZ vaccine COULD be 1 in 600,000 in younger people

The chance of thrombosis from the safe and approved contraceptive pill is 1 in 1000
As they've now said it's predominantly women under 60 being affected I wouldn't be surprised if there is a link to contraception in the end.

None of this data has put me off having my second dose

The numbers were higher in women as more women have had the vaccine compared to men. The CMH guy said the prevalence of the adverse event v vaccines given represented similar numbers based on gender

And if I was <30 I would also get my 2nd dose, given that they are saying the adverse event is likely to occur within 10-14 days of the first dose.

Edit: For anyone - Who was the clown (maybe highground) who said that it only occurred after the 2nd dose because you have had more of the vaccine?.....

Different countries are free to make their own decisions using their own methods. Apart from the difference in interpretation of the scientific evidence there is often a lot of politics involved.

They have quite varied data around blood clot deaths too, Norway hit the pause button on AZ and who knows if/when they will lift it. They have had 4 deaths from just 125,000 AZ jabs, in a country where the Virus hasnt actually killed very many people.

I'm in that age group, I'll be waiting for a different vaccine and don't want the AZ Vaccine now tbh. The risk of the blood clots aren't worth it and I have next to nil chance of being affected by Covid either. I'd happily wait an extra week or even a month for a different vaccine and I'd imagine most people especially at the higher end of the age group would think the same.

Not every 18 - 30 year old does drugs, have unprotected sex and are waiting for the next flight to Malia. That's more 18 - 22.

I see one of the headlines from the briefing is that the "rollout should not depend on the supplies of Pfizer/Moderna".

What does this mean?

This from the BBC website. Is Nick for real?? 😂 😂

UK on track to offer all adults first dose by end of July - Hancock

UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock has also reacted to today's announcements, reiterating that the UK and European regulators have both confirmed the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is "safe, effective and that the benefits far outweigh the risks for the vast majority of adults".
Hancock adds the UK is "on track" to offer a first dose to all adults by the end of July and urges people to get the vaccine when they are offered it.
"This is the excellence of UK institutions in action: clear, transparent communication of advice based on the best quality science," he says in a tweet
