Astra Zeneca

definitely took a calculated risk but any mass medical procedure will have it's issues.

Took a calculated risk on 12 weeks too. These decisions needed to be made and if they are backed up with plenty of evidence I see no isssue. It is for the greater good.

No calculated risk with AZ vaccine it was trialled up to 12 weeks for second dose

It was the Pfizer vaccine where the “risk” was taken

Possibly not out of the woods on that one yet. It has been argued that until the second jab is given there is still a risk.
I think they've timed it very well. Another 5 weeks before limited lifting of lockdown and 10 weeks before free for all. By then all the very vulnerable will have had 2 jabs and the others will be covered to a certain extent.

At the time we started infections were through the roof and we need as many to be covered as possible.

Even if did go tits up it was 100% right call at the time. IMHO.

EMA’s safety committee has concluded that the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine should continue to be used to all age groups but that unusual blood clots, with low blood platelets should be listed as a very rare side effect.

clotting disorders are very rare side effects of AZ they say
Rumours in UK younger people will not be offered AZ now

under 30s not getting it.

my speculation is now that they will get the Moderna (sp) one now and therefore the 30-50s will still get the AZ jab..... we’ll just have to wait a bit longer

Good news in a way. Should alleviate the under-30s' concerns about the very minor risks linked with getting the vaccine now that they'll be offered another one. Business as usual for the rest of us. Can't wait to get my second Astra dose.
