It’s the Keegan factor. The hype and media frenzy that was generated around the club from the mid 90s even up until the early 00s Champions league days with Robson. The hype and frenzy was so strong it still hasn’t faded away to this day.
Here he is back in this thread abd out of hiding because they drew and Fulham got beat :lol:

It took a knock when Quinn scored the winner in front of me before he gave away a penalty for Poppins to waste. The journey on the metro to pick the car up at Heworth was also a joy to watch.

Still won fuck all though despite being in the big time. Blackburn and Leicester meanwhile took their chance despite being allegedly smaller clubs...

As long as they go into the last game with no more than a 3 point lead over Fulham then that’ll do for me. It just means that they’ll either go down if they get beat, or spend another season circling the pot, which they’ll hate even more than pushing for promotion the following season.

It would also guarantee another year without them beating us.

Mags will stay up and in most probability will win nothing in my lifetime (I'm 50 btw) continuing decades of not winning nowt. Big club my arse

That old chestnut. Due to the vagueness and ambiguity of the word, a 'big' club can be anything you want it to be. Would you say Wigan, for example, is a bigger club than Newcastle because they won a major trophy recently?
It's clear what a successful club is - and winning trophies is a clear indicator of success. By any standards, both Sunderland and Newcastle have been among the least successful upper echelon clubs for decades - particularly this last one.

It’s true. What else explains all these media cliches and attention etc

The cliche of a thick mag munching on Greggs crying because his team lost?

The cliche of 52k each game so away fans must support you?

The cliche that you deserve to be a top team as your the only passionate team?

You do know that cliches aren't always true?

Heres a bit of education for you dumb cùnt.

cliché
/ˈkliːʃeɪ/

noun
  1. 1.
a phrase or opinion that is overused and betrays a lack of original thought.
Typically pejorative, "clichés" may or may not be true. Some are stereotypes, but some are simply truisms and facts. Clichés often are employed for comic effect, typically in fiction. Most phrases now considered clichéd originally were regarded as striking but have lost their force through overuse.

So obviously not a top team so it's not a fact and you gave away 10k season tickets. That would put the cliche into the stereotype section.

Attention wise its always funny to laugh bit like the Victorian Freakshow.

The way your fans go on like absolute spanners constantly always shouting how hard done by. Leave the NE when you havent got the joke Chronicle and nobody cares or gives you attention.

They laugh at you. Take a look in the mirror and realise how every other club/fan perceives you...

Bunch of muppets, crying all time because a person they've called a fat wanker for saving their club won't spend all his money and bankrupt the club putting it in the same position it was in when he first arrived due to the previous owners over spending.

Absolute deluded whoppers!
Theres a true cliche for ya!

That there is the reason why you sucked off Rafa even though he done shit for you.

Won fuck all yourselves so try to claim to be a big club by association.

How many won that award while playing for you?

Thanks for confirming it even though all of you say that isn't the reason.

How many league titles you won?

 Talk about living in the past. I'll give you a clue - you didn't win anything so no-one cares what you were doing 40 years ago.

Didn’t say we are successful or high profile just that we are far more higher profile than you. I keep seeing you all wondering why, well having 5 of the best players of modern times associated with us probably answers that tbf
