You really are a clueless knacker like. You were in Europe at the cost of nearly bankrupting your club, you spent well beyond your means and Ashley saved you, despite those few years in the sun you are now at your actual level. You had massive over achievement for a few years, again due to financial mismanagement. That was against the norm as before that you were utter shiteEh? I haven't said otherwise. I've said he has taken us backwards, I haven't said his money didn't stop the rot. Facts are though we were in Europe, weren't a yoyo club, for the 13 years before he took over, and we've been in Europe once since and relegated twice, soon to be thrice. Ashley himself says he's been bad for us, so why is that admission ignored by some Sunderland fans? We says he's been bad, ex-managers and players say he's bad, journalists and pundits says he's bad, he says he's bad. It's an accepted fact. I can forgive the fans of other clubs not getting it because they'll not have taken much of interest, but the ones on here clearly have done their homework, they must have to come up with daft gotcha arguments to try and claim he isn't a bad owner.
I honestly don't care what trophies he won elsewhere, I rated Benitez as a very good manager before he joined, rated him when he was with us, was excited about what he could do at the club and was disappointed when he left. That's why I like him. Not because of his name, not because of his history, but because of that.
Nope, that's Ian Cusack. I'm not him. If you all weren't such mean boys I'd prove it with a photo as well.
Ive never read so much bullshitI've not changed any of my arguments from the moment I got here.
I didn't pretend to be anything. I outlined where I agreed with you lot on Rafa, and some minor disagreements. I tried to have a genuine, serious, debate, if only to test my own beliefs. What I've been met with is abusive posts from people that don't agree almost from minute one.
This place gets a bad wrap on the rest of the internet, and this thread doesn't do many favours for that perception. It never needs to get personal, but for some reason it does. You set out your own conclusion that my 'mask would slip' and then claimed I was clearly another member, and waited for me to say anything that went against your 'gravy stained bastard in black and white' perception. I'm sure you must live and work with Mags, so why is this different? You get annoyed when I articulate detailed arguments, it's all just very very angry.
I have friends who argue that Sunderland fans deserve to be in League One because they didn't fight for their club or protest. If I'd wanted to be a WUM I'd have trotted those talking points out. It's just not that serious to me man, it's the internet, and it's football.![]()
SNIP....Facts are though we were in Europe, weren't a yoyo club, for the 13 years before he took over, and we've been in Europe once since and relegated twice, soon to be thrice......SNIP

No, I didn't. My smilies were in response to abusive responses received. You really are a clueless knacker like. Ive never read so much bullshitAs soon as someone proves you wrong you come out with smiley reactions or one word responses like "rattled". Also this place gets a bad rap on the internet? More absolute bullshit, this place probably has more fans from other clubs than any other, including you deluded simpletons

Is that saying the mags‘ average league position based on their entire history is about 14th in the top division? You mean the 13 years when you spent huge amounts, thanks to the money injection from Sky as football finances shot up and a few clubs gambled on playing with the big boys? Is that the 13 years you won nowt and come the end were heading more into debt because of the lack of 'success'? What about the 13 years prior or the many seasons of nothingness prior to that?
In the image below, it shows the actual league position that season, the overall average position and the last 15 seasons position. The highlighted bit is the 'success' period. You finished 42nd in 1991-92 which was your lowest ever position and also the lowest 15 year average. The 15 year average position in 1992 was 24th as in the 15 years prior, you'd only finished as high as 8th in Div 1.
You last finished top 4 way back in 1950-51 though no European competitions were around then. You did qualify for Europe in 1976-77 when you finished 5th, though it used to be top 4 prior seasons though. Look at the league positions from 1940's even as you're not really a yoyo club but rather a rollercoaster ride of huge ups and downs.
It just shows you were nowt before the huge cash injection that nearly cost you before Ashley came in. Yet many of the mag fans (probably '92ers) go on as if NUFC is a 'big' club that should be up there and they don't deserve this. This is part of the reason why they're thought of as being deluded and not just by the Mackems.
You've simply reverted to type and today's history lesson for the deluded has now concluded!

You are the outsider here. If you didnt expect abuse then you are as deluded about that as you are about your "massive" clubNo, I didn't. My smilies were in response to abusive responses received.
I've no qualms if you prove me wrong, none at all. I was happy to concede we had different interpretations of 'on the brink' and I explained why.
By the same token, I'm also not going to sit and take dogs abuse from you and a few others because you disagree with me. You can't give it out and not expect something back.
Gold!
Ha ha your post was very informativeWhy can't I be that concise?Apologies to those on a phone as my last post is huge but I'm a fast typist!
