😂😂😂😂

We are signing reserve players from championship clubs and they’re some of our best players man. Think about things before you say them
Remember when we were relegated to championship and people said our players would piss it. Said same again for league one. Think you need to think about things before you post rather than say them!

If we'd paid £5m for Joelinton we'd have been ripped off. Chrstian Atsu cost £5m and he's twice the player.
If Joelinton actually had cost £5m, Bruce wouldn't have picked him 70 times

No one with any sense said we’d piss the championship. And our issues were a lot deeper than just the on pitch problems at that stage. Of the players that played any number of games, there was only Catts, O’Shea and Jones (two of whcih were on the way out and the other was signed from the championship and never did a thing at PL level) that were from the PL squad. And Watmore but he was injured 99% of the time. A few young players just making their way in Gooch and Honeyman, but hardly “premier league players”. Not sure what your actual point is tbh

Really we had prem players 2 years ago!

Ability and attitude play a part. But for a player to even make it professionally they have to have the right attitude. A professional at even league two standard is elite, truth be told.
But when a top flight player starts looking like he doesn't give a toss it's not always performance errors, it's attitude errors, and if they have been decent previously it's probably a manager bringing them down. Which happens in any walk of life. If you don't like or respect or want to do well for your gaffer you don't perform as well

General concensus on here was play offs. And for league 1 was title win. We certainly thought lone, carts, oviedo and Co would be top players because they'd played in prem. If we've learned anything form 3 years in this league it's that premier league poor performers aren't guaranteed to do it in lower leagues. If a player is shit and lacking confidence that wil continue

Oviedo in fairness was a class player at this level. Catts was finished due to injuries and fitness. No idea who lone is

I genuinley could turn up and do a better job than Steve Bruce solely by virtue of just not being Steve Bruce
If they just left the players to sort themselves out they'd probably improve.

He's been shit everywhere. Nobody seems to join the dots though.

Sunderland then Villa, and now Newcastle. 3 clubs with a massive amount of supporters all hate him. Are those all wrong? Dickheads like Merson or Sherwood will say the fans expect too much or Steve's a great bloke etc. It's total shite

Agree to a point but as John Anderson said last week joelinton can't even do the basics. For a professional that's not good enough. He may have had something once but gone backwards.

Kone as you knew ffs auto correct. Oviedo wasn't class. None of them have been good enough to drag us back up 5-6 "premier" players in league one and only mcgeady really shone. Most of the rest of the league would agree with me. Some players are just shot and can't play lower. It's almost a different sport in l1 ffs.

I think he probably could do the basics as an average anonymous midtable player.
But a £40m transfer fee and the pressure around that has led to him to shrink. He didn't ask for that millstone round his neck, probably doesn't want it. More is expected of him because of it.
He's average as fuck but way more is expected of him. Even if he was at the absolute peak of his game he probably still wouldn't be a £10m player. Psychologically he probably feels like a fraud already and his (few) good qualities diminish further.
As I said previously, at £5m we'd have been ripped off.
The best I can say for him is, he gets paid to go to training and play matches, and he's at least fulfilling his obligations on his contract.

Kone didn’t play league one. McGeady wasn’t a PL player with us (nor with anyone for a long time). There was only Catts and Oviedo left from that and Catts was finished by that point - lad could barely move. Oviedo was a class above. Our problem that season was conceding goals and bottling it at key moments. And Wyke/Grigg both failing after Maja left. Still got ourselves in a great position with 5 games left and went to Wembley twice
