Wingate

Terry Majinusz was a total f**King idiot as a kid, I remember reading he was responsible for an arson attack murder and not being surprised, life for any arson attack where a person's life is endangered seems fair.

that video was quite heartbreaking. i'm not from wingate (wheatley hill) but went to wellfield and most of my mates were from wingate. we used to roam the streets back in the day (early 80's) but never caused any bother.
it's just like a lot of the pit villages that have gone to rack and ruin. you have scumbags breeding scumbags and unfortunately it's not likely to get any better. it might be the wrong thing to say but i feel so sorry for the bairns growing up in a feral environment with absolutely no future.
after school we progressed to drinking in wingate which was a great, vibrant place with loads of pubs from the fir tree to the workmens. normally there would be some sort of carry on of a sunday night and usually the same folk but it was always just fists and usually stopped before it got too bad.
i used to know the lads parents-probably their grandparents actually and they were a really nice couple.
it wasn't that long ago a house was burnt down in station town, it was apparently a case of mistaken identity ffs.

we had our own bus. some of my best matchday memories was being on the wingate bus, great days.
I was on the Alpine pop wagons, 85 onwards, maybe you will remember me.
We were crackers haha

I went on the Wingate bus a few times. Remember he charged £2 for Blackburn away once lol

that wasn't unusual. the home games used to subsidise some of the cost of the away trips. portsmouth and some london games for £5-£8. the one that sticks in the mind was brentford away the first game of the third division season £3 :)
a really great bunch of lads, made some lifelong mates on it.

Went to that game. Keith Bertschin 0-1. Away supporters kicking the corrugated iron at the back of the stand in order to add to the noise.

wouldn't know about that i was quite pissed. pub on every corner of the ground, sunny day and an safc win. doesn't get much better.
I remember waiting on the platform for the train and some lads were shouting at an old bloke warning him that he needed to get off the platform as there was a train approaching. Poor sod didn't know what to do.

You had to be there.

Apart from the shocking attack on him and his family, it's just depressing reading his original post about the litany of crime and anti-social behaviour that leave good folk afraid to do their jobs or walk the streets of where they live, and you have to ask, where are the police in all of this?

Understand everyone's afraid of being termed a grass, but where a place has become that bad, is that really the only way they can make a case? If shitheads are just hanging around throwing stuff at people and abusing them set up a camera, arrest them and keep arresting them, behaviour orders or whatever they're called now until sooner or later you've got enough to sling one inside, and then if they come out and start reoffending you target them and get them back in side. I think often there's a core, and then a bunch of hangers on who just follow. I know I'm making it more simple than it is, but haway. You can't have a place like he's described and then say that the people who live there are under the rule and protection of the law. It's like we've given up.

I hope some proper dedicated copper seriously expands on things and gets the scum shit bastards put away for every possible thing they can get on these *****, they do not deserve to breathe the same air as that lad and his family . Everybody will know who they are do the right thing and speak up it could be you next time.

A mate of mine in the police search team found the evidence which led to the arrests and identification of the suspects . Up until then the police had absolutely no clue who had been responsible and would probably never have identified them . The suspect had bitten the top off a lighter refill and spat it in the garden , absolutely brilliant find by the lad as most people wouldn’t even have recognized what the item was .
Is there a link for this go fund me page? I would like to donate something
Found the link , hope the SMB can do what they do best and dig deep for the lad

absolutely shocking. i'm on the Shotton FB page and arson seems to be the main weapon of the cowardly scum of East Durham. folk have moved out due to cars, sheds and houses been set alight. wasn't the easiest of places to grow up but it's been taken to a new level recently.

nearly £28k now, fair play. hope they can put their lives back together.

Totally saddened to read this , I worked in Wingate throughout the 80s and they were the nicest people you would ever meet.
My customers would leave their house doors unlocked for when I arrived .
I loved that place, used to love seeing the Roberts bus picking up the lads on matchdays.
I hope they find the scum
Dealer?

Reminds me of my younger days reading melody Maker and the like. David Coverdale was being interviewed and he was asked if he was worried about big gigs like Maddison Square Garden. He was dismissive. 'After you play Wingate Club' he said 'Everywhere else is a doddle'.

Seriously though. The deprivation and low level crime in the colliery villages is out of hand now. Good on the lad for saying his piece.

Has it happened again during night? Reports of it?

Apparently so mate. Fkn ridiculous of so. It will have been done to get the lad / family to drop any charges. Hopefully he won't be scared off to easily. One things for sure though his family need moving into witness protection for the time being and need to be closely watched as this is definately not the end of it all.
