David Ornstein from the Athletic on Bruce: "The view at the top of Newcastle is that Steve Bruce is here to stay and the players need to get their act together. That could continue even if they end up in the Championship. Mike Ashley does not want to sack Steve Bruce."

He does caveat it by saying things can change quickly, but can't imagine they'll be happy to hear that. Apparently there is a sizeable clause in his contract that they'd have to pay off if he was to be sacked. Ashley is shite like  Terrible, terrible appointment.

The scums dislike of Ashley amazes me, he gave them interest free loan of £160 million if my memory serves me right. He saved them from oblivion and because he refused to give Rafa an open cheque book they castigate him. I would rather have him as an owner than the Oxford mafia we were stuck with, he has the club running within its means.
Don't believe all that shite about interest free loans.....the guy takes plenty of cash out/dividend payments etc....its a bit like your Oxford Mafia cash is shuffled/loaned/borrowed etc between various companies related to NUFC/Fat Mike.

Your last comment of "I would rather have him as an owner than the Oxford mafia we were stuck with, he has the club running within its means".......don't get to carried away with your new owner as 12 months down the line could be a lot different than now, no guarantee of him chucking cash at the club

If we lose to Villa on Friday and Brighton pick up a point at Southampton/Fulham a point at home to Man City  we will be third bottom and Stevie Boy will be gone

10 games including playing all your relagation rivals was more than enough.

As you say, it wasn't Benitez's fault you were relegated. So it won't be Bruce's fault this year then?

Never mentioned Super Steve McLaren so I dunno what you're on about.
To be honest, I'd rather play teams with nowt to play for, than teams fighting for their lives, including the local rivals.

Benitez takes a portion of the blame, but the lion's shares go to Ashley and McClaren. And this season, should we go down, the lion's share of the blame will go to Ashley and Bruce, regardless of who's in charge come the final day. This isn't favoritism, it's just really simple, objective, reason.

That's the point, Steve McClaren was in charge for 24 games, had fixtures against all the relegation rivals, money spent in the summer and the winter on players he wanted, and yet could only manage 24pts from 18 games. But, reading this forum, Schteve is never mentioned, the only person responsible for our relegation was Benitez, purely because the Newcastle fans liked him. It's incredibly juvenile.

He won't.

And you would have gone bust without Mikes cash bailing you out.

Thick as mince Mags

Its no more juvenile than worshipping a manager that did at best a moderate job purely because he is a name that you feel befits your status.

That would be juvenile, if that was the case. But it isn't, so we're all good.

Benitez was loved because he played a savy PR game, got the fans onside, delivered on the pitch and showed ambition beyond survival. But, according to some juvenile Sunderland fans, it's purely because he's famous. Not like Steve Bruce famous, a different kind of famous.

Harsh on Bruce. He should be allowed to stay. Good gaffer

This.

If Bouncy had stayed and got his way he would have put them massively in financial difficulty.

They're a nothing club and never will be.

I'll piss myself if they go down 🤣🤣🤣

Because you lot never shut up about Rafa
Honestly, you lot talk about him as much as the press and some of our fans. I'd quite happily talk about how shit Bruce is, without mentioning Benitez, but he's dragged into the conversation every single time.

And the reason you talk about him is because we, at the time, really liked him. If he was shit or disliked, you'd be defending him. As some of you lot did with Bruce, Pardew, etc.

You spend an awful lot of your time and energy talking about a nothing club. Tel me, do you do the same for Aldershot? Or Stockport?

I don't think their fans think they are a European Super Club with a trophy laden history. So in answer to you. No I don't.

I noticed yesterday night that both us and Pompey played less defensively than The Mags. When the Mags defend (which, let's face it, is for around 80minutes each game) they have all 11 men behind the ball!
We always kept two players towards the halfway line and I think Portsmouth did too.
Maybe it's just different in this division but I'm going to see what Southampton and City do tonight....

Could provide any evidence, no matter how remote, that Ashley takes money out of the club. I see this all the time, but to my knowledge, unlike Shepherd and Hall, he is not a paid director and doesn’t take a dividend. He’s put a small fortune into the club and has only taken out the odd repayment to his interest free loans. The club still owes him over £100m for which he receives no interest and must have cost him a fortune and saved the club 10’s of millions.

Just because someone on Twitter or whatever keeps saying he uses the clubs money to buy shops, doesn’t make it true.
