No it doesn’t even out at all. THATS why it was introduced. Ref after ref admitting once they’d retired they thought twice about giving penalties against Utd when Fergie was there.
The FAs training and marking programme that produces mice for refs instead of men and pricks like Fergie and Morinio and their spineless club owners are what’s produced this fiasco.
It was introduced because everyone involved are trying to achieve the impossible ‘consistency’ rather than just accepting its absolutely inevitable that in a fast paced game with expert cheating going on from the players , that refs will make mistakes the same as players do, and they did not accept them mistakes as part and parcel of the game.

They wanting the same decisions for the same incidents and that’s why you have this stupid hand ball rule with goals getting disallowed.

To many fans and managers across the board have this siege mentality that their club gets the wrong end of decisions all the time, it’s bollocks imo.

Christ when we were in the premier league certain fans on here thought two of the refs were purposely giving us bad decisions, which again was laughable.

Too many stats about too many things, and too much read into them, instead of people accepting the inevitable coincidences that happen in football, like not getting a pen for a few weeks/months or not at certain grounds or from certain refs they assume that it’s because of bias against they club when it’s simply like I say a just a coincidence!

I posted about var not handball rules.
So would you prefer injustices or var? It’s early days for var and it’ll get better.

I prefer people to leave football the way it was and has been enjoyed for years, and when they don't get the decisions they want or receive injustices, just to accept its one of things that happens it football like missed pens, missed open goals by players, and part and parcel of the game, and accept sometimes they will get decisions they way and sometimes they wont.

Rather than twisting all the time about the ones that dont go their way and forgetting about the ones that do.

Would accept mistakes by air traffic control as part and parcel, or would you try to make it better??

It can ruin a game though, player wrongly sent off after 9 mins, when you’ve spent hundreds taking the kids to an away game.

Well that's part of the problem making silly comparisons like that, mistakes from the above are a matter of life and death, football is a game and should never been compared to life and death industries

Oh aye. Cos safc at Old Trafford, Anfield, Arsenal, Spurs etc were always getting decisions given our way when they shouldn’t have been. Stamford Bridge when Keane was sent off at HT frinstance: three goals that motd showed shouldn’t have been given in the first half. I want fair play not decisions so ludicrous that Asian betting rings use em to convince others that the fix is in.
Refs retire then admit they’re scared to give decisions at some grounds.

Spot on.
We flew to Valencia for a long weekend away and the chance to see Depor. 4 mins into the game David Villa dives, converted penalty, Lopo the centre half red carded. Valencia 4 Depor 0. We flew home on Tuesday morning. The sports channel first news item was Lobos red card rescinded......before I’d even got to the airport.

I’ll bet Cloughie wadve been up for Var....especially after Juve away in the EC semis. Worrabout the Belgian ref who confessed all to the journo and was found with his head blown off in Belgium? Theres been too many odd decisions ower the years to keep allowing one man to have the say. Revie wadve hated var which is good enough for me.

The problem with that as I said earlier on is they will have been occasions that you right and refs have felt the pressure of a big crowd and gave a pen accordingly. ( although of course that never happens at our ground and our big crowd :D )

However they will also have been many many times a big club have been given a decision that was right and a ref has given that because he genuinely thought it was the right decision, but straightaway lazy fans come out with the old boring cliche he has only give it because it’s a big club, ‘ bet he would have not give it at the other end’

Imo your point has a small valid point to it but is massively overplayed.

It’s hilarious how all people said for years and years is big clubs in their league get decisions.

Yet as soon as we became the big club in our league when we were relegated to league one, loads of posters on here were saying refs were coming to the SOL determined to stick up to the big crowd and not be influenced by the crowd!

The absolute complete opposite of what they were saying when we were in the premier league!

See that’s my point with all this, fans of clubs always feel sorry for themselves and always think their club get a raw deal because they biased and not objective.

The fact they think we got nowt when we were the small club and nowt when we were the big club!!!

Simply proves that to me

Are you seriously comparing SAFC in Div3 with SAFC going to Old Trafford and Anfield! The refs in div 3 couldn’t pick div3 players and managers out of a police line up whereas they’re watching the PL clubs on telly every night. You’ve made a ridiculous comparison to get your point across.
Ill happily suffer the slings and roundabouts and arrows and swings of VAR til the day I die if it means fair play to all clubs no matter what their stature. I can’t believe any genuine football fan thinks differently except of course those of the so called big six who benefit from reffing weakness and the football authorities general inertia and cowardice.

You still missing my point if a rich Arab took over us and we were premier league champions within 5 years and a established top 6 team within 10 years, our fans would still think we get the rough end of the stick with ref decisions as that is how fans think.

Refs weakness is complete bollocks, what we should be discussing is the disgraceful cheating that goes on without punishment, or the ridiculous over analysis and scrutiny of ref decisions before VAR ,where they had to make spilt second decisions with one look and one angle amongst 22 cheating players!!! not to mention cheating managers and thousands of fans screaming at them!

And when they made the absolute inevitable mistakes in them circumstances they were called weak or even worse cheats for simply giving what they seen.

Like I said earlier refs only human so on occasions you may have a point, but not many and I believe your point blown all out of proportion!!

The bottom line is the likes of Man United were always going to win leagues with the quality players they had, and they won the league because of the players they had no other reason at all.

It’s what makes football embarrassing compared to other sports, when teams get beaten in other sports they assess their own performance and take responsibility for it, where in football it’s always a blame culture including blaming the ref!

When we got relegated for the premier league it was because we were a shit side, and the team that wins it, is because they a good side, all this bias nonsense fans and managers feeling sorry for themselves and complaining it’s because certain other sides get decisions I just find embarrassing for them!

I'm not quite sure what your point is here.

The point VOFP was making was that people always used to moan that the big clubs got the decisions when we were in the Premier League, yet now that we're the big boys we don't get decisions because refs want to show they won't favour the big boys.

What does that have to do with not being able to pick players out of a police line up?

A player being righty sent off is easier to stomach than being wrongfully sent off

It’s not a silly comparison, it’s demonstrating the point that we can do better if we want to.

just because football isn’t life or death, doesn’t mean we should accept huge mistakes being made on a regular basis.

refereeing isn’t fit for purpose and needs to improve.

having a middle aged man trying to keep up with professional athletes and been given one view of an incident is nowhere near good enough.

If football was invented today we would never even propose that system.

Then why not go for two refs instead? I'd personally rather to see that as a test than turning football into a stop and go sport like NFL and NBA.

We seem to accept players on 100k a week missing pens and open goals but not mistakes from officials.

Guess the argument is we can stop and start the game to put some officials mistakes right but can’t with the players.

But do we want to do that at the detriment, enjoyability and passion of the game?

You miss the point, we’re trying to find a way to stop those mistakes.

a players mistake is a sporting mistake, a ref mistake is different and this weird acceptance of a mediocre system is just wrong.

fix the problems.

Pretty obvious point: We aren’t a big club in the way that PL refs recognise Liverpool and Utd players. L1 refs won’t recognise our L1 players. Their players are in every newspaper in the land everyday, ours aren’t. The refs are weak and starstruck.
Read Polls book.

Belgian refs head blown off in Portugal sorry. He’d fixed a Forest UEFA game.

Should just make it like NFL.

Ref makes all the decisions as previous but each team has 1 contest to a decision per half. If they wish to appeal a decision. If it turns out they're correct they keep the contest. If incorrect they lose it.
