I've not posted for ages as this board is depressing as fuck.
This is how depressing in a nutshell.
A thread bumped to highlight unnecessary negativity and to highlight a bit of positivity. and then posters saying we shouldn't be happy about how well the vaccine roll out has been, we should continue to concentrate on everything negative.

I’ve avoided this forum in the main since my Mrs caught Covid. She’s now thankfully recovered. She was lucky, others not so. If one of those vaccines can save one family from going through bereavement, or the fear and anxiety of having a loved one suffer from the virus, or an individual not have to go through the illness itself then that is a victory. Just that one, never mind 15 million. And to see that achievement used as some kind of political weapon saddens me. I don’t think I’ll visit this thread or this part of the board again. Some of the posts and the mentality of the people responsible for them boil my f**king piss.

Rather than research lots of detail, as I’d like to do, I’ll provide the following which was a BBC article by Chris Morris and Anthony Reuben considering the many difficulties in trying to compare COVID-19 data between countries. This was published in June 2020 and remains relevant in my view.

No, you should be comparing it to comparable large cities, so we have Stockholm, Gothenburg etc.

There have not been 117k Covid deaths. There have been 117k people who have sadly died up to 28 days after testing positive for Covid. Excess deaths is the true figure which sadly doesn’t get used by many as it doesn’t fit the narrative of the media. It’s annoying as fcuk how many people don’t accept this.
I’ve lost a family member who died of old age well in her 90s. She tested positive in a care home 28 days prior. Covid didn’t kill her buts she’s one of the 117k....
