He does. Got a 50 last innings in Sri Lanka, was excellent in the 1st test. He clearly works hard at his game

Ignoring what it looks like, the balls haven’t misbehaved much. India batted fine on it with a century in both innings. The puffs aren’t causing massive issues. If we’d have bat competently in our first innings this could be a cracking game chasing 250-300, perhaps less if we bowled a bit better and held our catches. And if we’d bat properly first time round the pitch may well have made it to day 5.
Only ourselves to blame on this one. Nothing wrong with the pitch.
It’s only a poor pitch if it their breaks up stupid (this one hasn’t really deteriorated at all) or if it’s stupidly unfair. I don’t see the toss as much of an advantage here at all in fairness, as the pitch as barely changed. It’s not done too much in these early overs and didn’t do too much in India’s second innings either. I don’t see a problem with a lower scoring pitch though, as long as it’s fair for both teamsI don’t think we’re a million miles away from agreement.
I think the pitch is a poor test match pitch and it was obvious whoever won the toss was going to win it. The par score in the first innings on day one would have been 240-280. That suggests it isn’t a good pitch. England’s bowling was very mediocre and allowed India to clock up too many runs. We bowled far too many four balls and didn’t use the pitch presented (and have repeated that second innings). We then followed their innings up with a poorly constructed innings that was about 60-80 short of a par second knock. I doubt we’ll make 175 this innings either.
Point is, I don’t think test match pitches should point to the result of the match with such certainty at the end of the second session on day one. And I think this one did. Had England bowled and fielded better, I think this test match would be on the brink of ending.

That’s unplayable![]()
Looks a far better bowler than Nadeem.Axar made a huge difference.
No buffet bowling from Nadeem and Washington at the other end.
I believe10% of the way there. The win is on the way.
Can you imagine how the commentators would spin it if the impossible DID happen?10% of the way there. The win is on the way.
Only 10% of wickets down too. And we’re pissing the run rate.10% of the way there. The win is on the way.
