Redditors gave Wall Street traders an absolute pasting

Looks like those who've helped drive the stock price up have decided to sell-up themselves. Human nature and only to be expected. Doesn't seem to make them look like any better human-beings that any fund managers holding short contracts on this on a long-term basis. Quite ironic really. The funds will have to pay some interest on the borrowed stock, but that's only been a few days and can hardly see it breaking their balance sheet either. All that's happened here is some unwitting internet folk will lose some of their hard-earned cash when the price has dropped.
The overwhelming cry is that volume of trades is tiny at the moment.
But its possible

relevance?

well you would say that

not at all, can't say it isn't enjoyable though la
We were talking about philanthropy. Someone posted a link of a d'ide sending 6 Nintendo switches to a hospital or charity. I'm saying Ray dalio, the owner of one of those evil hedge funds and just so happens to be one of the largest in the world, set up a charity and has donated 5bn dollars.

You only really have to look at the share price and a massive drop is going to happen (it already has really). I honestly wouldn't be surprised if plenty of funds doubled-down on their short contracts if they could find holders to borrow from, and they've just made the hedgefunds more money.

My point was more of questioning the whole ethics of it, though. Are these Redditors really just going to sit on their "investments" and lose money when they're potentially sitting on a nice bit of profit? I don't think so, and that doesn't put them in a more ethical position those disgusting, evil, capitalist pigs they hate so much.

and the people hyping it up on reddit will be laughing all the way to the bank. hook line and sinker for those late to the party.

This, this, this.

You can see from this thread how easy it is to get people into this stuff who know absolutely nothing about the markets.

WSB is still full of 'diamond hands' exhorting the poor saps left in to hold 'to the moon'.

Unfortunately it is all playing out as it usually does - the chief cheerleaders have exited with super profits, and the bagholders are realising that they are on the hook.

you just don't see it do you? this concept is so difficult for you and I get that

Shell put loads of money into indigineous peoples and the environment, McDonalds gives loads to charity... this has no correlation to the moral turpitude they made their money off

my input doesn't require validation from you MinceyTinkle, least of all you to be honest

Adultery in the 10 Commandments and Catechism is not sex outside of marriage, that is covered in coveting thy neighbour's wife etc; adultery is the adulteration of money, the making of money for the sake of money and no actual good

publicly donating a small amount of the profits that are made literally on the death mounds of the most vulnerable is offensive

I understand that you don't understand this as a concept

what's your point? that the guy giving the nintendos to the hospital is offensive?

Nah never read it. Saw the Disney though. Very enjoyable

ok, well this man is not Robin Hood I don't think

Robin Hood took money collected greedily by the Sherrif to ruin the country and fill his coffers while Richard Lionheart was in captivity. Robin Hood was fighting for the people against a corrupt regime etc
Then Richard's boyfriend went round prison walls whistling a song he wrote with him until he found him and gained his release.

The main guy who chucked $53k in is still in - sitting on $35m from his initial investment. I dont think I could see that and not withdraw and fuck off to the bahamas or somewhere.

The thing is, not all the shares are worth the same amount. Only some people will be willing to pay the price as it is today, then once those have been sold you're moving down to people who'll b4e willing to pay less and less. On paper it's $35m but if hetried to sell he'd get nowhere near that much.

Fair enough but he will still be a very rich person if he sells now.

Interesting to see the endgame now. Can see the volumes traded yesterday were very small - seems the hedge funds are selling to each other trying to drive the price right back down. Also there has been a hell of a lot of misinformation in the press about this over the last few days - more hedge fund manipulation of the market??

Wonder who will blink first? Reddit or the hedge funds?

Hedge funds selling to each other would make the demand look higher than it was a drive the price up.

Reddit will blink first, without a doubt.
