Michael Vaughan

Vaughan has always been an arrogant kernt - I met him in Shef before he became England captain

Swann and Pietersen are kernts too

as were Prior and Broad

MV’s 1940s crack is offensive to generations since who have done far more for their country than he or I have

prick

what is he even on about this time, brexit, lockdown, covid not real?

i bet he's a flat earther. tin foil hat wearer, i bet he doesn't believe we landed on the moon.

jesus. i just clicked on the twitter thing by accident and before i knew it. obviously don't have the full conversation for context but what a mupped

He blocked me seeing his tweets cos of that.

I called him a gobshite I think

Absolutely agree yeah. Totally agree on the Pietersen point too. The others, Jimmy, Broad, Cook are too nice to say out about Pietersen.

As I said, he is annoying and I don't find his humour funny, IMO anyway, but he is pretty harmless.

Bell was talking bout team mates when he retired, said he could be pretty annoying, but was good to have around as he didn't take game too seriously, which is key in pressure moments.

Someone like Pietersen going out of his way to cause trouble and undermine people, is just the other end of the scale.

I pretty much agree with everything Swann says, just not particularly the manor he says it.

 deary me.
Wtf has happened to you? All reasonable and correct and stuff.

Shall I tell you why he isn’t right?

Vaughan was using this image as a justification to end lockdowns and not take a virus seriously; a virus that has, at the very least, hastened the deaths of over 100k people in this country.

His perception of the 1940s is that everyone carried on life as normal. This is, of course, complete baloney. What Vaughan was asking for with that nonsensical meme more or less equates to people demanding the end of blackouts, rationing and foreign travel because they and their friends personally hadn’t been hit by a Nazi bomb and didn’t see what all the fuss was about.

It’s historically illiterate patriotism for simpletons.

It's nothing to do with that, as you well know.

Strauss and Atherton are two former England captains, both are Tories, both have been linked with even running as a Tory MP, yet both are liked and respected on here, especially Strauss.

Vaughan, on the other hand, is a gobshite who endagers people with that shit he spouts.

But of course, you already knew that.

Just in the interests of balance, I’m going to label anyone who thinks Michael Vaughan shouldn’t go round the country on a tour to find every Yorkshireman to tell them why you shouldn’t kill women in cold blood with ball hammers an extreme rightist.

Anyway, back to cricket, Vaughan was a very fine cricketer, superb to watch at his best, and a smart captain; he probably led the most exciting England test side of my life. He is however a complete pillock with a mic and a platform.

 I don’t have extreme left views

Vaughan thinks covid is a myth and wants to open up society to kill off all the pensioners he seems to think he supports

seems like you are as big an arsehole as him

spot on

Strauss is one of my cricketing heroes and a top bloke

and i say that as someone who’d rather die than vote Tory

Agreed. Remember the embarrassing "Head Boy" craic he used to get on here

If I was being my usual twatish self I’d tag those posters but I’ll not bother

aye awful, a nickname started by Graeme Smit too. Nice way for some fans to treat one of our best ever captains, multiple ashes winner and man who strategised our word cup win!

Strange one really. He does seem to have gone all zany and become a bit of an attention seeker in recent years, which is so far removed from how he was as a cricketer and a captain.

I can't put my finger on what's led to the change but he's like a different person at times which is a shame I still want to really like him.

almost like he's trying to be a character to earn a living....loads of pundits like that

I used to think that, but its just not the case, this is his personality, in reality, he is just a bit of a cock.

I'm not doubting he's really a twat and they're his views...just think he amps it up even more.

Can't bear to listen to him or watch him

Twat

Aye fair play, I used to think it was a bit of an act, then I met him through a work thing, and my opinion worsened, then I didn't like him in the KP thing, then he started airing his opinions on politics and covid, and it confirmed my instinct

I honestly think he's the type of bloke who likes Laurence Fox

I think you're right.

He believes what he says, no doubt, but he's an attention seeker so screams them even louder.

When you look at the statesmen of the game - Sachin, Strauss, Pointing, Gilchrist, Holding etc - it's embarrassing to see our most celebrated modern captain embarrassing himself globally on the regular
I honestly think he's the type of bloke who likes Laurence Fox
Ooof

You ain't wrong. I'm gonna check if he follows him
